Both of my cats (one is 10 yrs and the other is 4 months) drink the water out of my betta bowls. I've tried putting covers on but they pry them off (the bowls can't be sealed because betta's need air). They rarely drink from their water bowls now. Is this a problem? I treat the water with a betta water conditioner and keep a clean bowl. For some reason they just love this water. If anything it's annoying because sometimes I'll notice my poor betta fish swimming in an inch and a half of water. Anyone share this weirdness? Any suggestions?

i put both my Betta's in a separate room, and shut the door.
i have a dachshund that can CLIMB! and he does quite well. after almost killing my Betta when he knocked the bowl on the floor (shattering the bowl!) i decided..out of sight out of HIS mind.

LOL... My two cats have fresh water in their bowls daily, and will drink from the Fish tank OR from the toilet instead ... I have NO idea why! Best thing I can think of, is to try putting your Bettas into wide bottom vases( the kind with narrow necks) ... at a certain point, the cat will simply NOT be able to REACH the water, but the Bettas would still have Air... AND room to swim...

She likes the flavor of the water greater effectual than she does the water in her very own bowl. some cats are troubled by using the scent of chlorine in water and the betta fish bowl does not have it. you ought to attempt giving your cat filtered water and notice if that facilitates.

you should try getting a new bowl and put the betta in their and get like a fake fish toy (that sinks) and place it in the bowl the cats drink out of

I really don't see a big issue here...since they aren't trying to eat the beta...no one is in any real harm...my cats do the same thing. My partner and I have put our betas (4) up high where the cats can't get to them. We can still see them and enjoy but the cats can't.

My cat was trying to do this well he did do it a time or two and I kept telling him not and he finally left it alone. Lucky for me I guess. LOL. I don't know if it hurts them. Check the ingrendients on the bottle and research them or ask your vet.
