Well if it were between two felines I would put money on the lion. Male lions are designed for cat to cat fight which is all about one solide bite to the throat or back of the neck, to snap the spine. But a grizzly would focus more on overall damage until disfunction. So the specialized defence of a lions mane would be useless and I would say the grizzly wins.

I would have to go with a lion. Lions are hunters by nature, so the male lion be used to killing things much bigger than itself like wildebeest/kudu's etc. And if you've seen a wildebeest in real life you will realise what terribly powerful and frightning animals they are. Male lions in particular also often fight one another to the death for the female pride. Bears are solitary creatures, who generally forage for their food, as opposed to hunt. Also, I don't believe the males compete too much with one another. I certainly haven't heard of grizzly males fighting to the death on a regular basis.

correct me if I'm wrong.

I think a male grizzly, cause male lions arent really meant to fight, they stay and play with the cubs while the female goes hunting.

I say Grizzly is the winner, their paws are HUGE, much bigger than a lion and they stand over 8" that's a big dude. I think he'd crumple the cat like a beer can....
