I would have thought it was understandable--but some of the answers above have rephrased it to mean something different from my interpretation. To be perfectly clear and grammatically correct, say:

How much does the most expensive dish in this restaurant cost?

That is correct english. Don't listen to the others! ^_^ (Of course, the "What is the most expensive dish in this restaurant?" is also proper english. There are MANY ways to say the same thing.)

it does make sense but it wud be better if u say :

'' what is the most expensive dish in this restuarnt and how much does it cost''
OR

'' how much does the most expensive dish cost in this restaurant''

OR

'' what is the cost of the most expensive dish''
( u dont have to say ''in this resturant'' when u ARE inside coz u wudnt be asking abt the restuarnt down the other road lol)

i think that the sentence is incorrect it should be either

Gramatically, maybe not. If you said that, though.. Everyone would understand and answer you just fine. It's acceptable and most Americans would say it

Why no????!!
coz you mean the quantity by the word " how much " not the quality "expensive" that you doubt it.
