Speaking for myself, I cannot say that i am more enlightened by this. But, it gives me an idea of what people think about religion. It gives a world view of religious views of various categories of men. It is an opportunity for me to express my views on a given point. It is not a debate or argument. One may take it or leave it. In any debate, the people who listen to the opposite point of view, are not really transformed or enlightened. Both the parties realise that there exists a different way to look at an issue. Further, those who have no opinion, in the beginning, will have an opportunity to form an opinion. For myself, I consciously avoid expression of hatred.

All the various viewpoints are a fascinating study on how our mindset, no matter what each believes or doesn't believe, is greatly influenced by our parents and others we looked up to as kids.

Also, I am amazed at just how uninformed most people are about the content/authorship of the holy books and the history/culture of Bible times.

Religion "way of life" consists of belief.

The Christian believes that the Christian bible is God's word as spoken through the prophets.

God reveals, man observes. Belief is in the realm of revelation. There is no scientific method that explains belief.

Heaven is where God is and hell is where God is not. Earth is where is. How does man get to God.

God is spirit. We worship God in spirit and in truth.

I can continue distilling verses from the bible, but these few should be enough.

If you were interested, I would refer you to the Gospel of John, so you can better understand.

It is up to you to discern if this is crap or not.

I dont' think religion causes the problem. People on here...askers and answerers cause the problem by butting heads and giving nasty uncalled for responses to any and all questions based on religion or the lack thereof.

It causes so much rancor that I'd love to see yahoo! anwers do away with the category completely and to delete any questions posted if and when the category is deleted.

Seems to enrage a lot of people........ it is called Christaphobia.

Makes a lot of people so insecure they spend hours here trying to convince the world that The God does not exist.

I see very interesting processes taking place.

Yes. Conquer, divide, scare, control, warp the truth...

(I'm talking about organized religion, not spirituality in general)

It's not religion that does this. It's peoples opinions, views and lack of respect they have for each other. Regardless of what their faith or lack there of dictates.
