I thought basmati rice is very good especially for diabetic people because after cooking the rice does not contain too much starch as ordinary fragrant or long-grain rice. I doubt there is any side effects unless you are allergic to rice. My mum went for a heart by-pass and she was advised to eat basmati rice rather than ordinary ones. Hope I ask your question.

Basmati rice, or for that matter, rice does not have any side-effect. Only rice has starch. You need proteins too for a balanced meal. A judicious combination of the two is to be preferred.

No, you will not have any side affects because Basmati rice is just another high quality rice which is absolutely safe but there are some genetically engineered rice which can be unsafe to consume as they are not yet tested on humans yet.

How much rice are you eating, and where was the rice grown? If you eat a lot of rice, you can have problems with arsenic intake. Rice accumulates arsenic and other toxins. Although rice is generally a healthy food, it's best to eat a varied diet, with some rice, some wheat, some potatoes, etc. to spread out your intake of toxins.
