Apply a deep conditioning treatment to your hair a few days before coloring. The better conditioned your hair is, the easier the color will take and the longer it will last. Recently conditioned hair will also be softer and shinier. As an extra bonus, a deep conditioner will protect your hair against any possible damage from the color chemicals.
Color hair that has not been washed for one day. The natural hair oils will assist in making the hair color application more successful. The color will cling better to hair that is not dry.
Use a color enhancing shampoo between applications to enhance and maintain the color. The color shampoos like Mine, Manic Panic, ARTec, Paul Mitchell and Aveda's color shampoos are specifically designed to keep your color fresh as long as possible. Be sure to use the color shampoos religiously to maintain your color. The color shampoos will help you keep your color looking good until it is time for the next application. If you don't wish to use a color enhancing shampoo then at least use the most gentle shampoo that you can.
Avoid exposing your colored hair to the sun or chlorine in swimming pools. The sun may fade your hair color and the chlorine may damage the color.Conditioned hair holds color better than dry, brittle or damaged hair. Conditioned hair also makes the colored hair shinier and brighter.
Use layered colors to prevent an overall faded color look. If your hair is colored all one color, or seems to fade rapidly after each color application, you may want to try a layered color

Unfortunately, red is the hardest to keep, and the hardest to get rid of.
There are many colorcare shampoos out there to help maintain your red. Some, even have red pigment in them to help freshen the color when it starts to fade. Visit your local salon, ask a pro, they will guide you to maintain your red!
As for frizz, anything that is an oil based product will control frizz. Again, ask your stylist for the best products. The products on the shelf today also have alchohol which can dry hair, a professional product will contain less alchohol and be better for frizz, and for color! You get what you pay for.
However, your hair must be in good condition before coloring.
Conditioning a few days before coloring will not change the conditiong of your hair right away! Hair that is in good condition from the start will hold color better, but it will take more than one treatment to do so.

There are color sealing products out that prolong and seal in hair color. I would suggest going to a Sally Beauty supply store, I can't remember the product line but it works well. I am a redhead and I love to play with all the red colors in my hair and red does fade fast. Do not use a clarifying or dandruff shampoo on color treated hair, it will fade the color. Ion product line has great frizz control products as do Organics product line. Organics can be found anywhere in the ethnic hair care aisle, they aren't heavy products either. Organics has a clear frizz control gel that is fantastic. I have corkscrew curls and I use it to tame them since I am outside allday long in my work.

That's 2 different opposing problems. Maybe you hair needs to breath first, that's why the texture changes. Have a hair treatment 2x a week for the first 2 months and don't color it first. I think your hair needs attention, specially nutrients. Buy a vitaminize shampoo and conditioner. Please treat it first, because even you get the hair color that you like if your hair is ill, it'll not look good. And the worse thing that will happen is loosing hair. So treat it before it's too late. Hope I helped you.

i had red streaks before and i had to dye my hair almost every week because it faded so fast. you can try tresemme color thrive shampoo and conditioner, then use tresseme color thrive spray or the cream through towel dried hair. do not rinse. ive been using this product and i can say it really works. for frizzy hair, you can try frederic fekkai anti frizz serum. good luck..

do you really like red as the colour of your hair? try drying them longer and when you shower, try to use hair-friendly shampoo. thats only a suggestion. if all else fails, then either your hair dosn't accept the dye, or the dye is not that effective

to keep it from fading, try the pantene product made for hair colored red. its suppose to keep the color in check. as for frizz try adding a little bit of olive oil to your conditioner and see if that works.

I use an anti fade shampoo and conditioner. Tresemme makes it. It seems to be helping my hair to hold the color longer (black).

Conditioning treatments. they act as a filler for your hair, it makes color take better and stay longer. also try washing as little as possible, go as long as you can to let your natural oils protect. use a color protect shampoo by Joico or Matrix.
