Get the fruit of your choice, chop it up, and freeze it. You can even portion it in Ziploc bags, so when you're ready for a smoothie, just grab a bag out of the freezer. Throw it in the blender with one cup of vanilla soy milk. (You can buy it at Walmart, and don't worry, you can't taste it in the shake.) Add 2 or 3 tablespoons of women's soy protein powder. (Also available at Walmart, in the vitamin aisle.) Also add a teaspoon of your favorite extract. I like vanilla or coconut. Blend and enjoy....for an extra creamy smoothie, add a cup of low fat yogurt. This recipe is not just low fat, but very good for you. I know it sounds weird with the soy and all, but it tastes great!

Use low-fat yogurt, non-fat milk, and any combination of fruits you like, but bananas are usually included. You can also use low fat frozen yogurt or low fat ice cream. Some people add honey, but that makes it too sweet for me. Be inventive--put in what you think you'd like. You don't need a recipe. Remember, smoothies may be low fat, but they are not low calorie

For a chocolate shake, you can mix skim milk with low-fat vanilla ice cream and Hershey's chocolate syrup...it is fat free. You can also use yogurt or pudding instead of ice cream, but the consistancy will be a little different.
