I just wonder what everyone thinks are important qualities for a person if this person is the one you belong with, (aka your other half, soul-mate, etc.)

I don't think anyone can know, its different for everyone. I think its something you look back on at the end of your life and can identify the person who was there through thick and thin and you loved the most. The Soul mate term gets thrown around a lot and in my opinion abused.

A soul mate isn't just any one you prefer or feel you're keen on... It's any one whom you'll inform some thing, any one you would spend eternally and an afternoon with and certainly not get worn out of simply being with them... A soul mate is any one who completes you.

Understanding and communication are the big ones. I know it's hard for men to understand women, but it speaks volumes when they at least try. We just like to feel special, sometimes. We don't need them to worship the ground we walk on or anything like that, we just need to feel loved. You have to remember that men are physical beings, but women are emotional beings.
(A great sense of humor doesn't hurt, either! I love it when my husband does goofy stuff to make me laugh!)

-Sharing the same or similiar beliefs/values
-Being able to understand each other
-Just "being on the same page"
-The ability to speak openly with each other
-Honesty
-Trust
-Commitment is a huge one
-Someone you enjoy spending time with no matter what you're doing
-Wanting the same things in life (marriage, kids,etc.)

I look for a guy that has qualities such as:
Nice, gentleman, honest, trustworthy, kind-hearted, FUNNY, a Christian, fun, loyal, and a guy who doesn't care what others think. and is comfortable in his own skin and just being himself....
