Ancient Hebrew
Which by the way does not translate well into English
The first poster is wrong because there is the King James "Version"
The book of Mormons
and quite a few others that all differ in one way or another. As I said the original will never really be totally translated to English or any other language without being off in one way or another

The original Bible was written at various times because it is a compilation of several writings. Old Testament scholars differ on the time that OT books were written but some where near 1200 BC is a good guess. The "stories" that make up the OT existed much before that. Most of the New Testament was completed by about 90 AD. The earliest date that all of what we now call the Bible came together is around 170 AD. The original languages were Hebrew, Greek and some Aramaic. Translation began appearing almost as soon at did any part of the Bible. Documents like the Septuagint and Vulgate which were translations themselves were used in part for some English translation.

The Bible as we know it today was written between the first and third century A.D. No one knows who authored what in it. But it has been edited by the church so often to serve whoever held power at the time, that even though it is one of the oldest books still in print, you have to question an discover for yourself it's true meanings. The first books were written in the languages of the region they were found in, then translated to Greek a few hundred years later.
I have undertaken a quest to find out who Baal is. He is a "GOD" mentions one in the old testament, that OUR God was supposed to have fought an won dominion of the world over, which would lead you to believe there was MORE then one God, as the major religions would have you believe. I would say start questioning the older sources. Look to a history unbroken for FIVE thousand years an see what they have to say about religions. The Oriental nations have established histories that go back at least that far an you can use them as a time line to hold along side the Two thousand year history of the bible.
I wont say don't believe in God, because I have called on him an got answers myself. BUT I have to question MANS point of view on HIM.

stories in the bible, must have been written or at least passed down from very ancient times, up until a relatively short time after the death of christ.
the collation of the stories from the bible had to happen after the last series of events that were not predictions.
as people may be aware dates like 300 A.D. have been given as a time that it may have been written.
The Mormons claim there are more parts to the bible which their founder located
One can only assume that different parts of the bible may have originally been written in different languages.
The essene community are considered to have had some texts relevant to the bible, but some organisations call the dead sea scrolls heresy.
one of the earliest printed translations is in Belarussian.
researching their sources may prove helpful.
To put a time to the original writing of the bible will always cause a problem, as it can always be seen as an attack on christianity

The 66 books that comprise the Bible were written over a period of about 1500 years. Revelation, the last book, was completed inabout AD 90. The 66 books were penned by about 40 authors in three languages. The NT was written in Koine Greek and the OT was written mostly in Hebrew, with a small portion written in Aramaic.
