I am a cake decorater and this happens to me alot, but it's usually my entire right hand and somtimes both hands. Things that help it go away: massage it gently, smack it against your thigh (or something else soft) a few times, turn the faucet to warm/hot water and put your hand in the water, shake it really hard.
I told my doctor about it last time I was there and he told me to wear these wrist braces when I'm sleeping. They were about $20 each and I got them at Walgreen's pharmacy. They really work if you want to spend the money.

It can't be carpal tunnel. That's a different nerve. The nerve affected in your hand is the Ulnar nerve. It controls your little finger and the half of your ring finger closest to your little finger.
I fried mine in an electrical accident earlier this year and now my hand is numb, exactly the way you describe it. Only I'm numb going back to the wrist. The nerve and gotten compressed (or pinched) at my elbow and wrist. I had surgery on my elbow this last May and will have to have surgery on my wirst before long. My advice? SEE A DOCTOR! I did PERMANENT damage to my nerve. I'll never have back the feeling or full use that I lost back; but without the surgeries, my hand would only have gotten worse, eventually I would have lost ALL feeling and use of it.
See your doctor!
B vitamins will not help AT ALL if there is nerve damage. And yes, playing with yourself with a numb hand DOES feel a bit weird! lol

ok maybe your nerves is shocked from something and that they are damaged which you said! so I recommend not puting ANY pressure on it for at least a day and if not then I would go see a doctor pretty quickly because I heard that when you get a numbness sort of like that then it means your either gonna get a stroke or some sort of serious health peoblem! just call and have it checked out by a doctor pretty soon in the next day or two!

i hope u r numbness goes away; my fingers and part of my hand have remained numb for more than a yr. - my other hand did the same way and finally got 90 per cent better - after more than one yr. doc's not been able to find out why mine are numb; neu-surgeon told me to try B - vitamins - B-6 and one other - i think it was, especially, sorry I forget exactly which ones - but when i took them, it did not seem to help me. also, i have R A --- (rheumatoid arthritis). and only med i'm taking NOW for that - is two Ibuprohen per da. -- not as much pain as WHEN I WAS ON THE Bextra - that was taken off the market-- right after I stopped taking it! - best wishes!

I just found out from a doctor that if those 2 fingers go numb it is a nerve in your elbow(sorry forgot the name) that is causing the tingling sensation.

You may want to see an orthopedic doctor to make sure that you don't have a pinched spinal nerve. Back problems can cause numbness, tingling, and pain in your arms, hands, legs and feet.

Numbness is very often caused by poor blood circulation but it would be advisable to have some tests done by your doctor.

~Were I you, and since you obviously lack the intellect or concern to get an authoritative answer from a health care professional, I'd cut the sucker off before it gets worse. In the meantime, keep pounding that keyboard. The exercise will do you good.

I have carpal tunnel in my left wrist-it has the same effect. The nerve that is involved in carpal tunnel runs through your hand right to the tip of your ring finger. It will subside if you make changes in the way you use your hand and wrist.

It could be a result of a nerve being pinched, or it could indicate circulation is cut off to that area. It doesn't sound all that serious, but you should check with your doctor.
It could be a symptom of something serious. It's best to know, either way.
