Mr. Chivalry says, "When a man cries and shows that he is human, women respect that, but if he just cried for every little thing, that makes him look a little too sensitive. Mr. Chivalry doesn't cry a lot, but when he does, it's important."
Mr. Chivalry has spoken.

I don't think it's cute or makes them less of a man.
I think it's nice when a man shows his vulnerabilities sometimes. Let's you see his sensitive side, which is a good quality and to a lot of women that makes a man appear strong and appealing.

My boyfriend actually went through a depressive state last Christmas because he tried to quit smoking and his neurochemicals got all screwed up. He would start crying and wanted to be with me like 24/7. It was kind of cute the first week because he never seems like he "needs" me, but after a while, it got really annoying and I told him to just try smoking again. Now everything is right with the world.

Depends on how he does it. I mean if he is like whining and crying like women do then it would kind of be wierd. But my boyfriend has cried infront of me after his grandfather died and as depressing as it was, it was kind of cute and I didn't think he was any less of a man.
