Why with all what's happening in the world, and the bad picture that the Islam extremists have been giving to Islam, it's still the fastest growing religion in the world.

Islam is spread and maintained through fear, violence, oppression, intolerance of other faiths, and murder. There are lots of lawless places, like Somalia. Watch the news and see how peaceful Islam proves itself there.

I think this is a difficult question without any simple answer. I suspect that if anyone could indeed answer this question there would surely be many factors contributing to its rapid growth. I have investigated both Christianity and Islam and have varying opinions about both. From my perspective, each religion has its attractive and not so attractive points. However, in the case of Islam, I feel that one of the most attractive features is that it is a rather simple religion; however, I don't mean this in a negative sense. Their holy book, The Quran, compared to the Bible is quite small and succinct. This book quickly tells you what to do and doesn't dwell on too many metaphysical issues. We are not born in sin as the Christians believe. We are the masters of our own destiny. We are not saved by grace, we save ourselves. We are born innocent. I think another attracive element to Islam is the mode of worship. Many Christians, certainly, not all, many times have a lightheartedness to their prayers. I even see people joke around when they say grace. However, Muslim prayer is a very solemn affair that involves your whole body and takes place 5 times a day. If followed by the letter, Islam is a very spiritually vigorous religion. My main complaint about the religion though is their book: The Quran. It isn't exactly an easy read and it doesn't flow like the Bible does. Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is that Islam is a no nonsense religion that has its roots in peoples' practical everyday lives. Christianity on the other hand has been bogged down by a lot of tradition and ritual. Many people are turned off by that I think.

We Muslims put a sword or a gun to non-Muslims' head and ask them to convert. This is how exactly the religion is spreading.

I mean don't you see in the newspapers that "Today, 100 people were converted to Islam at the point of the gun in USA and England"?

The same people went to Indonesia, Malaysia and Africa, took down people's doors and FORCED them to believe into Islam and the last prophet Muhammed.

As we will ALL agree that it is very useful when you FORCE someone to do something against their own wills.

On a serious note, I personally think it's because of those Christian fellows who spend days and nights trying to prove Islam is a fake (and in some cases, anti-Christ) religion who are helping Islam grow more than other religions.

I will give you an example of Buddhists, you will never see them spreading hate against other religions hence they have the least number of people leaving their faith and more people are looking up to their faith.

At the end, I will ask people like "whynotaskdon" to continue to spread false accusations against Muslims and Islam so the people who really want to find out about the religion WILL find out about YOUR faith and faith of Muslims and the teachings of Islam.

Islam is not the fastest growing religion in the world, Baha'is are growing at a faster rate.

Islam is only dominant in countries where the birth rate is high. In these same Countries, Muslims are killed if they convert to another religion.

Islam is only the fastest growing religion in our US prisons.

The best way to get the answer to this question will be asking a Muslim convert. Search the net for any such source. The people commenting here are not converts and they cannot testify why people are converting to islam.

Why don't you try to study some good recomended islamic books it will give you a very good understanding of why this is happening.

for a beginner I would recomend

They don't let their women have any choice. They just knock them up and force them to pop out babies. It's fastest growing, but how many of them are converts and how many are babies born in Islamic societies?

im going to go ahead and assume that youre from a western nation... and that in itself shows your bias.

YOU see islam as threatening and extremist and evil... but most of THEM see US as infringing on their lands, injecting our christian values into their cultures, and eliminating islamic companies and stores with our capitalist sprawl. Theyre not so happy about us...

...and as the old islamic saying goes...

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"
