Why doe so many guys have trouble surrendering to their emotional issues? ...Instead of simply dealing with it by communicating, they do other stupid self destructive things to avoid issues. This seems to be so much harder than just putting it out there and dealing with it. Why are they such cowards?

We have a rather dysfuntional way of raising the two sexes. We raise girls to be afraid of their own sexuality and we raise guys to be afraid of their own emotionality.

My favourite psych study was when they had a bunch of women work in a day care with pre-vocal children. They dressed all the children as girls and told they workers they were working in the girls room. The next day they dressed THE SAME KIDS as boys and told them they were working in the boys room.

Their different behaviours towards the same kids was very educational. Unfortunately I don't know if they ever repeated the experiment with male workers.

You are being harsh and narrow minded in my honest opinion. I don’t mean to yell at you, I just think that the answer to your question should be rather obvious. Boys and girls are socialized differently for the most part. A girl cries, mom and dad say ‘aw, it’s ok, let it out.’ A boy cries, dad says ‘suck it up.’ It gets more complicated than that as we age and develop more varied coping skills (some admittedly less effective than others), but the seeds are planted early and are sown by every role model imaginable.

we are not cowards..... this what makes the difference between women & men. With women they talk to there friends about EVERYTHING they are more open to each other. Guys we like to solve problems for ourselves we just arnt that open. A'lot of men kill themselves due to emotional issues and feel like there isnt any hope. But many of us learn from it and move on from the situation.

Because they've been programmed to think that emotion = weakness. It doesn't matter how many times you try and get them to open up, most of them are uncomfortable doing it, don't want to do it, and get pissed when you try and make them do it. I've learned to just say "If you want to talk I'm here for you" and then walk away and give him time. If he wants to talk (and sometimes he does), he'll come find me. Most of the time he just appreciates the space I give him so he can figure out what to do.

Mr. Chivalry says, "Society has taught men that it is the "strong" manly way to deal with issues. A real man will take the initiative to "defy" society's ignorant laws."

Mr. Chivalry has spoken.

You cannot expect a dog to act like a cat.
Give it up.
We are what we are and we all hate drama.

Men are born to fight and we feel emotions differently than you.
Just realize that and don't label men cowards.

i think it is just as hard for some girls to come with their feelings. it is just a matter of trust and perhaps they had trust issues growing up. iknow for me it is hard to open up and it's like pulling teeth sometimes. it's better to help them through it than criticize them or yell at them for not opening up. it just makes them want to do it less the next time a situation comes up.

guys are afraid if they open up and talk about feelings it'll make them look like a wimp in front of their friends or like you have him whipped. no guy wants that. take baby steps with him and just be patient. he'll let you know in little bits how he is. just dont get overly sappy with him and he'll do it more.
