Ok so I'm a hair change junky, I change color every month. The problem is that now nothing will stay.

I have gone through the summer so far since may without changing the color, killing me....and I was wondering if I should try to go get it dyed b a professional or if I should try to dye it myself?

Also do you know if there are still salons that offer hair stripping? I know my old one won't cause she said it's to damaging, but I don't care about damaging my hair....

if you consistantly dye your hair and you are having probelms getting color to stay you really need some deep conditioning.

The hair has a cuticle layer (this looks kind of like scales) this "scale" like covering (see link below), when you color your hair these "scales" open up to allow the color to penetrate, after repeted dying these "scales" don't close all the way allowing the pigment molcules to slide out easier making your hair fade faster.

I suggest deep conditioning and then go to a salon, they can use a demi permanent color as a color filler to give your hair the pigment that it needs to hold the color you want.

If a salon says they won't do hair stripping its probably because they don't know how. there are non damaging hair color removal products on the market for stylist use but they are expensive and the public usually doesn't want to pay for a service that can't be guaranteed. If you do find someone to do it for you then you will also need a filler for the new color to stay, and a series of deep conditioning treatments to keep the color from fading.

I was having the same trouble--the dye just fades right out very quickly. so I asked a friend of mine, who was a state cosmetology judge, and she said that it was probably mineral build-up on my hair. So instead of stripping you hair, go to a salon and have the mineral deposits taken off. Hope this helps.

My hair wouldn't hold color and a beauty shop fixed that. Don't know about hair stripping in a shop. Shops won't do things that would damage your hair, because they don't want to get sued.
