First, I would say that you are looking at the wrong thing. To be a good Christian, you do not have to live according to the commandments. That has been fulfilled in Christ. Instead, look at how to please Him. As Paul says, "... live in a manner worthy of the Lord and be fully pleasing to him as you bear fruit in every good work and grow in the full knowledge of God." (Colossians 1:10)
What are the talents and gifts that He has given you? Put them to use. Read God's Word, get to know the things that please Jesus. It's rather simple really. When you have friends, don't you enjoy your times together? Don't you do things for them that they like to do? Same thing with Christ.
I would pray for Him to reveal His plan for you in His Word, and then study the Word prayerfully. He will not let you down.

There isn't a single Christian out there can't be a better one. We all fall short of the glory of God. Its why God sent his son to die for our sins. No matter what you do in life always remember God loves you. You can't lose your salvation if you could then Christ death was in vain. The best advice I could give you is what I do, talk to a fellow believer have them pray for you. Read your bible read Pslams. Sometimes life gets hard and we just want to give up but don't, pray that God will send someone to help strengthen your walk. Another thing I do is turn on the radio and listen to the local Christian station. And I play my CD's. Absolute Modern Worship 2 is a great one. Music by MercyMe, Sandy Patti, and Casting Crowns any of those are really great. Go to some music store and buy a new Christian Cd. My prayer for you is that God will give you peace.

Well good for you! You are trying and believe me God sees it. No-one said that it is ways being a Christian. I love reading the bible and learning about what the other Christan's had to go through. Look at Jonah and the whale, and Moses. Remember Jesus died for our sins.
Sometimes it is so easy for us to be tempted, or even mean hearted. You can't give in. I always read scriptures, If I am in a bad mood, or wanting to go our with my friends knowing I shouldn't. The 10 commandments are hard to live by, but what really helped me is when I would go to do something bad I would think in my heart what Jesus went through on the cross, and what I was going to do, no longer was relevant.
If you do have a hard time following the word, then pray, ask God to help you, and guide you in the right path. Surround your self by goodness, things that are holy. God is always with you, no matter what, holding your hand and giving you strength, lean on him, and read the bible. Remember when Satan tried to tempt Jesus? (as a snake in Mathew) Jesus rebuked him. Try that.
I hope this helps you in your journey of life.
God bless you and keep you.

Read the Proverbs of the Old Testament on a schedule so that you get through them once a week -- say, 5 chapters a night.
When you are following all of them all the time, all you have to do is "plug in" the General Epistle of James from the New Testament.
Presto! You're done. You're a good Christian when you can do this.

Lets start with the basics.
First, repent of any sins and accept Jesus as your savior, if you have not already done so. You can find more info on this at www.katgum.com.
Second, if you already have accepted Christ as your savior, then daily seek His will for your life. In His time, God will show you the path He has planned for you life.
Third, read the scriptures. Let God reveal Himself through His word. If you have trouble with just reading, then find a devotional. Use them as a guide to help study the Bible.
Fourth, daily ask God to forgive you of sins that you have commited that day. Do not confuse this with salvation. Salvation is once. Confession of sin cleanses our souls and frees us from the guilt of hidden secrets. Once we acknowledge them, we are then able to do whatever is necessary to rectify the situation, including apologizing to those we may have wrong.
Finally, make sure you are attending a church that preaches completely from the Bible.

Number one. Give it all to Jesus. Meaning stop trying to do things in your own power. Let God work through you.
Be constant in prayer, and thanksgiving. follow the words of Jesus, and let the Holy Spirit teach you. Let the fruits of the spirit show thru you, and your witness will improve 100%
Lean not on mans understanding , but trust God to show you. trust him.
Lay your burdens down at Jesus's feet, and he will work them out for you.To win a Spiritual war, you must be in the Spirit.(pray) Read all the red letter text in the new Testament to start.( Jesus words)
Dont be afraid to ask for help, pride is an enemy of God, and will only hurt your walk with God.Lean on brothers and sisters in Christ to help with daily problems you may face.Let them pray with you.
Love God with everything in you.Know what you are: a child of the Most High God. Be bold and except teaching, though read your bible, so as to know that what is being taught is of God.If it lines up with the word, it is of God. If not well: its not of God.

Go to church when no one is there, and mutter the lyrics of hymns loudly.
After about an hour get down on all fours and sing the first two verses of Hallelujah What Am I
Better yet, have a friend come with you and video the whole thing.

(ok i just want to throw in this disclaimer- i do not think you are a bad christian, and i do not think i am better than you in any way. i wrote quite the lengthy response here because i feel like i very much understand your frustration. i cant tell you the way out in easy to follow steps because i struggle too, but i truly believe the Spirit has led me to share these thoughts with you . . .)
fisrt- be totally honest with God. if youre having trouble in a certain area, pray about it whenever you think of it. let God know about your doubts, your temptations, your failures. if youre having trouble even praying, just let him know.
i think i know what youre feeling. ive been there before, several times.
i really believe honest faithful prayer and Bible reading will make the difference. get farther into Gods Word. even if its a chore at first, make a habit out of reading the Bible. each time before you do, ask God to show you something. youd be amazed how you start to pick up on things you never noticed before. to walk with God, its so very important to know him better, and the best way to do that is to look right at the source- the Bible.
also, get some accountability. i dont know how old you are, but find some peers, and if youre not an adult find an adult to help you keep focus on your faith. from my own experience, ive found that finding a christian friend to talk about faith with has made a huge difference in my spiritual health. thats Gods purpose for christian fellowship! dont forget about that! :)
ok dont forget this either- dont worry about making yourself a better christian overnight. the way to change is to make yourself open to the Holy Spirit. he knows who and where you are a million times better than i or anyone else on yahoo answers does, so just try to listen. its something we're all learning to do. its a lifelong growth process. pray for opportunities to live out your faith, and when you see one, take a risk and go for it! youre far from alone anyway you look at it.
ill be praying for you, and i would be super excited to get an email message from you regarding your thoughts, progress, or specific prayer requests. seriously. grace and peace be yours in Christ Jesus :)

Find one of Jehovah's Witnesses and study the bible with them. Really. That's what they do. Don't believe anything you hear about them or anything derogatory you read here on this forum after this answer. Just find them and do it. You won't be sorry. I promise! Keep in mind, Jesus was hated and persecuted. Which religion today is treated the same? You got it. JW's. Find them...Study the bible. Your on the right path friend.
