Missy, I agree that your dog should be seen by the vet. This behavior is usually caused by an irritation to the skin on the paws, and it will take a vet to diagnose the specific problem. It could be an allergic reaction, bacterial, yeast, an interdigital cyst, an infected cut, or something else... The vet will try to determine what it is and tell you how to treat it.

Best of luck to you both!

sounds like he may have an allergy problem or a skin problem...if he keeps up the chewing his paws can get really irratated, red, and a hot spot may form which will have to be treated by the vet. Take him to the vet or call the vet to ask what they recommend. You might ask the vet for the proper dose of benedryl for your dogs weight, as this may solve the problem.

We had the same problem once with are Blood Hound. She would actually chew on her paws till they were bleeding. We bought a product at Wal-Mart called "NO CHEW". And sprayed it on her paws. It helped and her paws healed up

I would go to the vet. He might have an irritation or he might just be bored. All dogs do it for different reasons.

DONT USE LEMON JUICE OR PEPPER!

If he has a skin irritation you might hurt him =(, Imagine putting lemon juice on your own cuts or sores *OUCH*

I'd take the poor puppy to the vet.
