The legendary long-distance relationship is every bit as tough as it is rumored, but possible, unlike popular belief.
Communication and trust is essential to keeping a long-distance relationship, just as it is in a normal relationship.
You will have to have absolute faith and trust in your partner and them you.
And as a means of communication, make all of the following a regular habit:
-Letters (They are more personal and have more substance than an e-mail, so don't just skip this one.)
-Telephone calls
-E-mail (I suggest twice a day. One in the morning discussing what your days plans are and one in the evening explaining how your day went. This keeps each other connected on your day-to-day activities, which is very important. Most people in long distance relationships, if asked what their partner is doing that day, can't answer. Which is not good, obviously.)
-Text messaging (On the go and up to date.)
-Instant messaging
-Sending gifts (Don't focus too much on this one, though, if you know what I mean.)
-Shared online activities (Multiplayer online games, music, news articles, etc.)
-Shared offline activities (Listening to the same music, watching the same movie, looking at the same magazine, all at the same time, etc.)
You have to remain a constant in each other's lives, stay actively connected.
I hope my advice helped and I apologize if it didn't.
Take care!

I can't stand long distance relationships. Some work and others don't. It requires a lot of trust... ooooooo, i hate long distance...i don't trust all guys when it comes to other females. I was in a long distance relationship, but it didn't work for us. i broke up iwth him 2 weeks ago, even though i loved him so much. We used to talk a lot until he started acting as if he doesn't wanna talk to me. When i call him, he always has an excuse and say he will call me back but he never does. I just couldn't stand him anymore.
You can't see what your bf/gf does....he/she may lie to you. I'm not saying that all ppl are like that....but most are. if you want your relationship to last then, make sure you talk to your gf daily. call her and tell her how much you love her. Be honest with her...tell her how you feel about her. When you promise to call her, make sure u do...it's very important. the more you talk, the closer you get, the closer you get, the more she will love you. You can send her a card once in a while, or some flowers(u don't have to, it's your choice).
When you guys start communicating less than you use to, know that something is up. Communication is very important if you want to keep her...their will be times when you will miss her so much that you'll want to end the relationship and get over the pain...so be strong. Tell her to hold your hands and not let go and everything with go well.
Love is like a rose in winter. Only the strong survive :)
I hope it works between you 2
i wish you the best
Good luck!

I am currently in a long distance relationship with a guy that lives in a different country, so sure I believe that this kind of relationship can work, or I would not be wasting my time. It will just requires true trust and understanding. I definately think with todays advance technology it is very possible to make this kind of relationship work.

No, it can't and won't last. These kinds of things are fun and intense precisely because they don't last.
Think about it like this -- you had a great time, met a great person and now go back to your real life and meet someone you will see everyday.

Not for to long, because long distance relationships tend to be just like long distance telephone calls......On occasion, there will be some static, interference, "third-party dialing," call forwarding, wrong numbers, "other" connections, and some disconnections.......Not to mention telemarketing.

Complete waste of time. If one of you isn't moving to the city where the other one is within the next two or three months, forget it.
