This is a fundamental question, one that human beings have been asking at least since the neanderthals sprinkled ochre on dead bodies and buried them with provisions. Our first written epic, of Gilgamesh, addresses this central question and I don't see the purpose for mocking the questioner, nor evading the question.
I am a pagan. I expect to return to my ancestors and to answer for how I treated the gifts, characteristics, and good name they passed on to me. I hope that I will be able to look them in the eye when that time comes. Where that is, what that looks like, I can't pretend to know. Perhaps I will take up a new body. Maybe someday my soul will grow into a worthy companion for our most elder fathers and mothers, the gods themselves. But I have a feeling that might be a long while off. That's what I expect will happen when I die (and die, and die).

Similar to the American Indians, I believe that all living things are tiny parts of a huge, cosmic life form. Together, we comprise something similar to The Force in Star Wars. Our sub-conscious minds are capable of contacting this force. That is what happens when people pray--their prayers are recorded by their sub-conscious, which contacts the force, and brings resolution to their problems.
When we die, our 'soul' joins the force in a more pure form. The force is not an intelligent being, it is just a natural force, niether good nor evil. And it grows greater in knowledge and experience with each living thing that is born, lives, and dies.
I know, it sounds kinda crazy, but so does the idea of God.

As if those who dont follow bible have nowhere to go!
I dont propose to stand on the right or left of the God (how come a god without form sits on a throne and has left and right, which are relative and need a reference point!).
I too dont mean offence, but only loud thinking. Thank you.

I really hope I rot in the ground and feed maggots, without anything ever happening. That is, after giving out my organs.
Why? Because I am an atheist, and not delusional. It's the cycle of life. I have to go back at the bottom of the food chain.

I am 'Religious' and no I don't follow the same image of YOUR God. But I'm really close to completing my lessons. However, I do believe I'm not done yet! So I'll probably be back to teach the open minded survivors...if we don't see your destruction this time around!
Blessed Be...

I do not hold to any magical, mystical destiny for me nor any other of my species, although I believe just being alive is magic enough.
We have such experiences in our lives good and bad that really demonstrate that just being alive is good enough.
I will go to a box in the ground where my remains will eventually decompose, but within that compost is a group of substances that enjoyed for a brief time.

Regardless faith and believes, in all cultures throughout history, there was the issue of life after death! No one came back to tell us, Something will happen.. until then just do good.
