Well,at 21mos. she's a little young to be pushing the issue really hard. But if she does comprehend, the first thing to go is diapers.Pullups are okay at night and on long trips, but everyother time needs to be for training pants or panties,if she's big enough for them.I know it's messy, but it's also the best way for her to get the feeling of really being wet or messy. Then start taking her every ten minutes, even if she does nothing atleast you're trying. She'll eventually "go" during one of those ten min. trips and you can make a REALLY big deal of it then.Clap, jump around ,dance, reward with candy, whatever gets her excited. My littlest really liked to flush the toilet,so he liked to go just to be able to flush.Whatever works,ya know. After she gets down the ten min. thing, you can stretch the time to 15min.,then 20,etc.
Oh,and cut down on the liquids a bit.Don't thirst her to death, but limit it some so she won't pee every 15min.This was almost impossible to do with my 2 youngest, they live for drink.
Hope this helps. And potty training takes awhile,no matter the child.Usually about 3 mos. to really get the idea down pat.

Sounds to me like it needs to be her idea to be on the potty. Give her a prize when she goes potty. When she wakes up in the morning immediately throw her on the potty. Have a chart at home with stickers, let her put a sticker on it every time she is successful. Make it fun and exciting, sing silly songs and show her how her pee-pee and poo poo flushed down and goes bye bye. Get the special handsoap for her and maybe a cool potty. I gave my kids prizes and with my boys it worked. Some take longer than others. Some people will swat their kids if they make a mess, I don't suggest that. I suggest fun, songs, prizes, and candy. Good Luck Mom, be consistent, always, and buy her some new underwear and throw those diapers in the trash and let her see you do it and explain everything to her mommy, it will work.

I give my daughters( twin 2 yrs olds and 3 yr old) stickers and a cookie at the end of the week if they 'potty' on the kiddie potty for the whole week. Plus we use the new pull-ups that get cold when u start to pee or get the urge to go. We also practice for fifteen minutes before bed time sitting on the toilet and reading a 'potty' book. That works too.

Potty training is training both of you. You have to be consist ant and recognize the signs when she needs to go. Don't wait for her to tell you at first....if she does that's good. And when she's successful give lots of praise. Be aware of how soon after eating or drinking she needs to use the potty. When she understands the concept it'll go better. When she makes mistakes don't get upset with her.....it takes time to develop control over her bladder. Occasionally let her come into the bathroom with you so she'll know what's expected. Give it time and you guys will be fine.

The trick is to catch her before. You have to be on the ball. It is the parent's responsibility to make it a routine to go to the toilet first thing, no matter ho tired you are and how much you want "just 5 more minutes". Kids, as you plainly see, will not wait. They'll do what they want until they see the necessity in doing what they should. Trust a father of two.

Try losing the diaper. Buy her some big girl under wear to reward her. Good luck.

Show her how to use the potty. Don't just tell her. She needs influence and shown how to do it. Diapers are a NO.

In the morning, to get my daughter to go...I put her foot in warm water, so she knows that it's okay to pee in the toilet. Then the rest of the day, she knows to go there first. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's a start.

I've went thru this 3 times.... Just take the diapers away completely. She won't want to go in her panties, it doesn't suck away the pee like a diaper does. She won't want to be wet. Girls r harder!
