two weeks went by before i got letter in the mail storage started at day one

They don't have to give you any notice. I do know that you have to have a valid registration and insurance before they give it back. I think 30 days is the magic number before the car is legally theirs. good luck.

The tow company doesn't need to notify you at all, although some will as a courtesy. The state is responsible for the notifications. Of course storage started on day one. Did it take you two weeks to notice your vehicle was missing?

Unfortunately, it's your responsibility to find out where the car was towed and to make arrangements to get the car.

my truck got impounded. i parked it next to a bank and store and i was picked up by someone and left truck there all day. end of day, no truck. it was taken away. was told becus i had a 'for sale' sign on it and i was not allowed to keep for sale cars on that property too long. i then called the cops and told them my situation and they gave me # to the pound. they took it way out of town. just for them to charge me cus they had to take it to the pound. darn them. i paid 150 dollars to take it out.
call the cops. tell them its no emergancy. tell them your story and they will help you out.
