I used to be a Christian but I converted to Islam. I did this becuase it does not rely on dogma, doctrine etc. It also is the most inclusive of religions. In fact, Islam's beliefs include that all previous religions were in part revealed by Allah. This includes Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism and Bhuddism, Taoism, indigeonous beliefs to a lesser extent. It does not exclude others from heaven. In the Qur'an, it is said that every nation was given a warner or prophet and that only those who reject the prophets are seen as unbelievers. As for those who do not any other way, it is believed that Allah will test them through their lives by their actions.
Islam does not rely on any unusual beliefs, such as the Christian belief that Jesus was the son of God, was crucified and came back to life. On the subject of Jesus, Muslims believe that He was the messiah, a prophet of God and that he was born without human conception. The only difference is that he is not himself God (a belief I always had trouble with as a Christian. Beucase of this, Islam follows a path of complete monotheism, not that of a god split into 3 parts like that of Christianity.
Islam also covers areas of life that other religions do not. Where other religions rearrange themselves to fit foreign cultures ( a prime example is the Irish and Latin views of Mary), Islam betters the culture itself. It covers law. marriage, divorce, economics, government and spirituality all at once.
It seems the most universal, inclusive, pure and logical of religions in that it does not discriminate, repress science or practice hypocricy, from my standpoint.
