How are you cooking them? Cook them in the oven 350 degrees. But first, put them in a flat pan, and add one chopped apple, one chopped onion, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, a tsp of mustard, 2 tsp of ketchup, and cook for 30 minutes, or until nice and bubbly. It's good.

Beans start out hard; they are cooked to soften them. Cooking them further after they are canned warms the starch still in them, making them softer than they were cold. Keep them cool if you like your pork and beans firm.

the softer should be the better.

I really dont know, but it goes down so fast, I never get enough time to ask them before they disappear down my belly.
Maybe next time I will take time out to interview one or the other.

you must realy like pork and beans. idk why they get more mushy. but i will tell you that they are great with sausage, eggs and toast for breakfast.
