dogs chew to relieve stress, is your puppy under any new stress lately? she should be through teething by a year old, so she just needs good, yummy things to chew on that aren't your wood furniture. try crating her while you are gone from the house, and make sure she always has good yummy chew toys to chew on... some things dogs really like are pig ears, bully sticks, and kong toys stuffed with cheese or peanut butter.
good luck. and if your husband tells you to get rid of the dog, you might want to consider getting rid of your husband!

The bitter apple spray mentioned already is a good start (you can find this product in pet stores). When the product is sprayed on the wooden furniture, your dog won't like the taste and will be deterred from chewing. You also need to be more involved in her training. Every time you catch her chewing on the wooden furniture, give her a stern, "NO!" and/or spray her with a water bottle. Give her one of her appropriate chew toys and praise her for chewing on it. When she cannot be supervised, keep her in a crate. This will help in a few ways: (1) you will know she doesn't have access to the wooden furniture when you are gone, (2) your husband won't be angry with her when she isn't chewing the furniture, and (3) she won't have the chance to learn that chewing the furniture is ok (because no one is disciplining her when she is alone with the furniture!)
Be consistent with your discipline and supervision and she will learn not to chew the wooden furniture within a couple of days.

Try spraying bitter spray on the furniture. Keep a close eye on her and discipline her when she chews on the furniture, and offer her an appropriate chew toy. You might have to keep her confined to a small chew proof room when you are not home or not able to keep an eye on her. Try exercising her more; take her for daily walks and she will be too tired to chew on the furniture. Have you considered crating her when you are not at home? You also might try getting her new chew toys, really tasty bones, etc.

Hi there,
I know what you are going through. You said you have a shitzu/poodle mix. It is called a poosh. I also have one, and he did the same thing his first year. Use a product called bitter apple. You can find it in any pet store and you spray it on whatever they are chewing. It is bitter as the name suggest and discorages them from re-chewing. Best of luck.

You can maybe restrain her from going there again? And yep, there are sprays that will make your doggie to stop chewing on that wooden furniture. Check out some websites like petsco.com ^^ or maybe even your local pet store =).

Try to not only use the bitter spray also exercise. I'M learning that if I exercise that a lot of behaves will stop. If your dog does not have a create then you might want to pick one up.Because you can teach your dog to go in it ,and chew on his toys there.

bitter apple spray doesn't work for every dog.
you need to monitor her constantly and catch her in the act--no spanking or yelling--just a firm "uh-uh" or "hey". also, you need to be walking her EVERY DAY for at least 30 minutes. the chewing is most likely a result of frustration and energy that is built up from lack of exercise. don't get rid of an innocent animal because of your laziness--this problem is because of you not disciplining or exercising her adequately.

Show her an old chair leg. Let her sniff it and lick it if she wants to.
Talk to her nicely and pet her, encourage her gently.
If she starts to chew on it, use the leg to beat her Effin' brains out.
This has never been known to fail.
