~Haven't much thought about it. If my health or rights are at issue, I don't look for an average doctor or an average lawyer. I try to find a good one. Usually get what I pay for. Of course, both the mean and median income of a sawbones is a whole bunch higher than a mouthpiece.

Yes they do. There is a constant shortage of Doctors which keeps their rates high. With the legal profession just about any man and his dog can join so the average lawyer doesn't earn that much. Even the average accountant will take down more than a lawyer.

I don't know about the math on that one, but I'm pretty sure that above average doctors make more money than average lawyers. What I don't know is whether average doctors make more than above average lawyers.

It depends on what kind of job the doctor has. Surgeons make more than internal medicine doctors. A doctor serving in a non-for-profit clinic will make less than a doctor in a private practice or hospital.
It depends on what kind of job the lawyer has. Private law firm lawyers make more than lawyers who work for the government. Lawyers working for the federal government will make more than lawyers working for county or state government. Lawyers working in a small town firm with low income clients will make less than lawyers working in a big city firm with rich clients.

Yes, typically. There are way too many lawyers. At least here in California. It's supply and demand.
