At the time I was going through a divorce. My wife left me for no good reason other than she me someone at work. My head was spinning and when I saw the Passion it took my mind off of my problems and really put things into perspective. I then realized more than ever that what Jesus went through was because of me. It helped me to get through my divorce by trying to live for the man who died for me.

Hmmm, not sure why you got so many negative answers to this thought-provoking question. First of all, it is an EXCELLENT depiction of the gospels despite what anti-Christian Jews think.

I don't see it as just a movie. I think Mel was trying to give us, as close as humanly possible, what it would have been like to be there as a witness. I also think it is important to point out that Jesus, Mary, Peter, etc. were all Jews. The movie does not show that all Jewish people are by nature evil, but that the leaders of the faith were more concerned with losing their power than they were with the Messiah. And that is common with all human religious institutions. I thought the film did an excellent job in showing how merciful Christ really is, and that we should be as well. When I found out that it was Mel Gibson's hand who drove the first nail into Christ, I knew anti-semitism had nothing to do with the film. Gibson knows that we all share the responsibility for Christ's death because we all, like sheep, have gone astray.

Sorry for the rant...how has it affected my life? Well, in the theater, while watching Christ forgive those who so brutally beat him, I wanted to get down on my knees in humility at the strength and mercy of Christ and pray. It brought home just how much he suffered and endured for the sake of the whole world. And it changes the meaning of "take up your own cross." I think it is a great film that everyone should see once. In short, it made me more humble and reverent.

I'm not a Christian but used to be. It was very difficult to watch the torture, and I heard lots of sniffling in the movie theater, but none were mine. I it was a movie, and that alive now was actually there during Christ's torture and crucifixion, so no one can portray it to a T, not even Mel Gibson.

What makes me say "Hmmmmm" is that this movie seems to be about Christ's suffering. Really, that was the big thing. I can't remember him teaching in the movie. If he did, I don't remember it. Allz I remember is the horrific torture, and I say, "WHY?" I mean, why dwell on Christ's death, when it was his LIFE and TEACHINGS that were important?

I don't believe Christ came to die, nor do I believe he took the heat for every sin ever in existence. Baloney, there were worse tortures endured by human beings, so how can Christ's alone suffice to atone for every tiny itty bitty sin ever? Christ came so that people could know and serve the Lord, he came to bring people back to God. That's it, it's as simple as that.

The "passion" should have been about Jesus' life. Now passion!!!

Only saw part of it and.. I agree.. it is just a movie. Just someone wanting to make a movie with a lot of blood and violence. It didn't effect my life. I already knew that Christ went through a lot. Watching a movie about it isn't going to make people see how it felt because no-one will ever really know unless they go through the same thing.
Do non believers want to see blood? Why not let them see a story centered around his life and how he is alive now instead of how he was killed?

Well my fiance and I went with 2 of his kids. After it was done and we were driving home no one talked. To me it made me realize what Christ did for me. I already knew this but it put it in prospective. Because of what Christ did I am now a child of God. How awesome is that. I cried pretty much the whole time just knowing what Christ went through just for me. It was my sins that put him there.

I still like Mel Gibson he's only human he deserves forgivness.

I have not seen it and do not intend to see it. If you have to wait for a movie to come out to judge how you feel about Christ you need to reevaluate your motives. The scriptures are given so that you may search them out carefully and come to a knowledge of the sacrifice of the Son of God. That was there intention before the long and dreadful era of retranslation after retranslation. Many plain and precious things were lost in those periods. That is why the bible is so misunderstood today.

But like I said, you can personally come to know of Christ's sufferings for mankind without a movie.

ok i know you're not going to like me for this and probably disregard and ignore everything i say here but maybe someone who reads this wont. I am jewish and i saw this movie and while i thought it was a very well done movie: the acting and visual effects were very well done. However, i did find it to be very anti-jew. it did not all go down the way it is done in the movie. the ROMANS killed jesus because it was said that he was the messiah and it was said the messiah would bring a fall to the roman empire. also most of the movie was not taken from the bible but by an anti-semetic nun who lived in solitude 1500 years after jesus' death. if you would like to discuss this further feel free to send me a message.

I was already saved when I saw the movie, but it still had a big impact on my life. It gave me a revelation of the cross. It helped me to have a better understanding of the price He paid. I know that the movie had a really big impact on many people. A lot of people were saved as a result of seeing the movie. I have the DVD and every few months I watch it and it always touches me.

The movie didn't change what I had already known about Christ but it brought it closer to home actually seeing the graphic details and seeing it on screen rather than reading is huge.
