First of all, why should you be scared of something that you had no control over? If you're a girl and you don't get your period when you should be getting it, then that's the time you should be alarmed. Your mom has gone through the same thing you're going through now so take comfort in that. Just tell her you've started your period and would like help in getting the things you would need. I'm sure she'll be pretty cool about it!

Don't be scared because your mom knows exactly what you're going through and has been there herself. Just tell her you started your period and ask her any questions you want. Know that your mom loves you and I'm sure she will be very kind and understanding. You can even ask her to not tell anyone else if you want. There's nothing to be afraid of or ashamed of. Remember your mom is an expert!

It's a normal part of growing up- don't be scared. Just tell mom that she needs to explain how the menstrual cycle works. And telling mom that you've started having periods is much better than telling her you've missed one or more.

She'll understand. She, after all, experienced it as well when she was around your age. Just pull her aside and tell her, "Mom, I started my period today. Can we go out to buy Kotex sometime?" or something like that. If you feel the shopping suggestion is too awkward, then just tell her the first line and take it from there. Most likely she'll congratulate you, you know, for entering womanhood ;)
Really though, don't be afraid to tell your mom anything. That's what moms are for, to be your counsellor when you don't know what to do.

OK.... well this situation is nothing new you your mom! Just sit down, talk to her and "Mom i guess I've reached that age when mother nature kicks in!" Or to go about it in a more serious way, Just tell her you started your period. Again this is nothing new to her, its not like she would be mad! You are revolving into a young lady! Trust me, she will be VERY understanding!

Tell you Mom now that you are concerned about what happens when you begin menstruating and you need her advice. She will be happy to help you.
Unless you KNOW that your Mom is not going to react well; in that case speak to a counsellor or phys ed teacher or elder relative -sibling, aunt, etc.
This is totally normal and there is no reason to be scared.

Well, if you're scared to just come out and say it (keep in mind she's kinda gotta go through the same thing too...), make a joke out of it and say something like "you find it at the end of a sentence...and now it's all over my favourite pants!"
