Thank god. You are an angel.
I have used hospice consult for many of my patients in recent months, and I can not say thank you enough.
You and the people that work for hospice are my angels. You help the families so very much, and can be there more for them than one of us... Which means alot to both myself, the treating physicians, and the families.
So from the other side Thank You. Thank you for easing pain, thank you for being there to help them and hold their hands. Thank you for being the best extension of what medicine is supposed to be.

My grandfather was injured in a fall about two years ago and spent his last few months in one. It was a very nice one. All of the nurses were attentive, in fact when I went to visit him the nurse was taking care of him and doing his daily checkup.
Our family had set it up so that every week he was being visited, and my 1st visit was also the last one. He died the day after I visited him. When I went to the hospice to pack his stuff up and clean up a little, I was surprised to see that the nurses had cleaned his room and boxed his stuff up. I thought it was a kind gesture, some people in the family thought they were trying to get his stuff so they could get a new one in there; but I like to think it was a sign of apology that he had died.

We used Alive Hospice when my mom was dying of lung cancer. It was wonderful! It was a comfort knowing there was someone who could come in and help her with her meds and to help take care of her. She was comforted by the chaplain that came once a week. They were also a godsend when it came to the medications. My mom died about 3 months after we brought them in.

Hospice was very good for my family when my father died. It allowed him to stay in his home and gave my sister a break when she needed it, especially since I lived in another state.
