~Chances are good to excellent that your cat is in the initial stages of a somewhat benign form of rabies. Were it mine, I would shoot it, burn the carcass and send the ashes to either CDC to check them out or to Iraq to replenish the arsenal.

Cats in general are naturally averse to water. In the wild, they can't afford the extra weight soaked into their fur. There typically isn't a great deal of oil secretions to protect their coat from the water. And since cats consider humans to be "big cats," the reaction may have been their way of saying, "Are you nuts? Get out of the water now!"

There are several additional reasons why your cat reacted the way it did. First, was the water running when the cat began "screaming?" It may have been a reaction to the noise of the water. Second, was their bubble bath solution in the bath water? The sight of this, in combination with the smells, could have set the cat off. Does the cat ever get in the empty bathtub for any reason? Some cats prefer the coolness and smoothness of the tub, so the fact that your baby was in the tub could be construed as a territorial affront.

A good product to eliminate cat urine odor is Nature's Miracle, which is available in most pet stores. I would recommend purchasing a black light, since cat urine will appear fluorescent under it and you'll be able to easily pinpoint the areas that need to be applied with the solution.

Evidently your cat feels protective of your daughter and thought you were trying to drown her little friend. That's exactly what she would do if you had one of her kittens in the tub. It's nice that she feels that way about your daughter, actually. She'll settle down when your daughter gets a little older, but right now her maternal instincts are in overdrive because of her own kittens and (in her eyes) your kitten. She's just overwhelmed! LOL And next time you give the baby a bath, close the darn DOOR.
Get oxyclean stain carpet cleaner for cat urine smells. Home remedies don't have oxygen bleach. Don't bother with vinegar. That smells worse than the urine, then you'll have two bad smells because vinegar doesn't work against urine either.

Number one (1). Get rid of the CAT. It has no owner respect so you can't trust them. Too bad you can't call the Dog Whisperer for cats. Is there a Cat Whisperer?

Watch out for the Baby. I know of a terrible incident involving a Dog that ate a six week old Baby that was left unattended. The Mother walked in on the act. This is no joke but a lot of people take information like yours to lightly. When the cat hisses...it's no joke.

Number two (2). Try Baking Soda for cat urine.. Sprinkle it over the affected areas, leave on overnight. Vaccuum. It like carpet fresh without artificial aroma. On hard surface sprinkle and wash down with plain water. like using Ajax or Comet bathroom cleaner, but without the fumes.
Search the Web. (Internet).

i think the cat was being protective of your daughter. how to stop her? not sure. it's good that your daughter wasn't scared. As for the cat urine odor:
Home Remedy Recipe Cat Urine Smell and Stain Remover

Ingredients
Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Dishwashing Detergent
Hydrogen Peroxide

Directions:

1. If the carpet is newly soiled, first absorb as much of the cat urine as possible using paper towels or an old towel. Place towels over the cat urine patch and tread on them so as to absorb as much wetness as possible. Repeat with dry towels until no more moisture can be absorbed.

If the cat urine has dried and you are not sure where the soiled area is you can use a black light (pictured above) to detect it. In a darkened room the black light will pick up cat urine and other stains. Hand held black lights can be purchased for between $15 to $25

2. Next, wet the area with a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Make sure it penetrates the fibres deep down. Allow it to dry. A fan can be used to assist drying. The acidity of the vinegar will neutralize the ammonia in the cat urine. It will NOT remove all the cat urine smell.

3.When it's dry, apply baking soda over the affected area and drizzle it with hydrogen peroxide mixed with a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent. Work it in with your a scrubbing brush or fingers to dissolve the baking soda and work it down into the carpet. Allow it to dry. Then vacuum.

Important. Never use ammonia or ammonia-based products on the carpet. The smell may attract the cat to that area and will encourage cats to urinate in the area

Additional hint

Hydrogen Peroxide mixed with dishwashing detergent will remove red wine stains from carpets and fabric like magic

Dude! Cat's will adopt your baby, especially if the cat is also a mom. She was trying to save the baby and didn't understand why you would endanger your child in such a way... totally normal. Dogs do similar things, and so do mares sometimes. Bleach, straight bleach can help eliminate cat pee odor. The only problem is that the cats still know its there and will pee there again making you think it is never gone.

You can stop her by giving her a bath and showing her it isn't dangerous... or if she hates it that much, you can give kitty a bath as punnishment. Or you need to demonstrate more dominant mothering behavior in front of the kitty.

Cats do the strangest things, many of which will never be explainable. I have no clue why your cat freaked out on your daughter but it's a good thing that she was having a good time and laughing about it. As for the cat urine thing, my mom has four cats and she has always looked for an cheap way to get rid of it but the truth is only the expensive stuff really works.

The momma cat probably thinks of your baby as one of her own. She wouldn't put HER babies in the water, and probably couldn't figure out why YOU would.

As far as pet urine odor... try cleaning with any really good cleanser like Pine-Sol or Lysol or Mr. Clean... but not on carpet! then after the area is dry, I would sprinkle some baking soda and vinegar on the area. And there are two good items to keep handy... don't need both, just one... Febreze or Oust... Both work well, but I prefer Oust spray... Not overly expensive either. About $4 a can or so.

momma cats are VERY protective... She knows your little girl is still a baby and she was trying to protect her. Must have a close relationship with her.
I had an expectant cat and when she went into labor, I was sitting in the living room and she came in, grabbed my little finger with her teeth, softly, and tried to pull me to her bed, in the back of my closet.
I went in to check on her and went back to the living room after a few minutes. About 3 minutes later, she was back in there pulling on me again, same way. She was in hard labor then and I couldn't leave her without her wanting to follow me.
As far as the smell, try ammonia. Maybe too strong for the baby so mix with a little water. It may take a few times, but it works.

Aww.. So cute.. If this is the ONLY/FIRST time this has happened then your cat was probbably trying to "save" your daughter. Your cat:

1.- Thought you were trying to make your daughter harm.

or

2.- Since they hate water, the cat was probabbly trying to get your daughter out of the water.

Anyway you should watch your daughter and your cat for a while.

Your cat can harm your daughter.
