Because of all the times we actually believed woman when they said not to buy anything. Then we get the whole drama of why didn't we buy something even though we were told not to. Sorry, fell for that trap a few times.

Because they want to show you that they will shower you with attention and presents, it's a status thing. Even though you say you don't want anything, they feel that it's your way of saying "it's okay you have no money to buy me a present" so they buy you a present to show you that they do.

To make you feel good! Buying something nice even though you don't want anything is his way of saying he cares! Some guys can only express that through gifts! It is a guy thing!

Well I am not a guy, but I think it might have something to do with the fact that we have a tendancy to say we don't want something, but really we do, and then when they dont get something, or do something for us, we get dissapointed, or angry and it shows, so they know if they just do it anyways that they can avoid any problems... Thats just my theory.

i dont understand the gift thing either, but a guy once told me that he gave me a gift just b/c he thought i told him not to cause i thought he couldnt really get me something i wanted. does that make sense? well anywayz, he ended up telling me that he had a surprise for me and i was like "great" but he actually took me camping in his backyard. it was the funnest thing EVER and it was really sweet. so ANYWAYZ...i do however like that most guys have learned to call you back when you hang up on them or tell them not to call you cause your mad or somethin.

Because guys like to buy stuff for girls. Guys show thier love and affection physicaly, not with words. When he gives a gift, it's his way of saying 'I love you'.

Because usually when a woman says do something she means don't do it. When she says "no, really I don't want a gift" she means you better get me something good. Men can't believe us when we say silly things like that because, well, they are silly. Come on, do you really mean you want no gift?

Because it always a trap- to be used against you at a later date, nope I rather get something and be safe... no reason to fuel the fire.

Fear If he's doesn't buy you something he thinks you might take it that he is losing interest in you. that will cause more problems or he is trying to impress you that he can take care of you well.
