If God's not real and more specifically, Jesus, then why do some people seem to become extremely upset & even hostile whenever the topic is brought up? Especially in places of education & workplaces. It seems to me that now-a-days, NOTHING at all is off limits to discuss, no topic is taboo, except mentioning faith in a creator. The power in the name of Jesus is self evident, in the way it makes people react, whether positively or negatively. Why doesnt it hold the same power to say "Buddha!" everytime you stub your toe on a rock, or to say "St. Peter!" instead of the name of the savior Jesus Christ when you want to express an exclaimation, or emotion!

just the mere mention of GOD'S WORDS, sends atheists in shambles.

THAT IS THE AWESOME POWER OF THE TRUE GOD.

ALWAYS...ALWAYS.ALWAYS..USE GOD'S WORDS, IT EATS ATHEISTS UP SIDEWAYS. THEY CAN NOT ATTACK GOD'S WORDS.

THEY CAN ONLY ATTACK YOUR OPINION AND BEAT YOUR OPINION DOWN.

THAT'S WHY THEY ALWAYS TELL YOU TOO STOP PREACHING AND TALK WITH OPINION.

YOU NO LONGER HAVE POWER OF GOD WITH YOU !!!!!!!!!!!

Jesus is more prominently followed. You're right, Jesus and God as concepts have power. But that doesn't give any reasonable evidence of the existence of such entities, just to the disposition of humanity that such entities exist, or specifically that the existence of such entities is debatable to an extent that it creates significantly conflicting world views.

I'd like to see a situation in which the culture of a given society is largely built around a given religion other than Christianity, but there's a significant portion of another religion or athiests that are therein. I'd say Shintao vs. Christianity in Japan, but Shinto doesn't have the same specifics and religion is a lot more subdued in Japan that it is in America. It's not the same thing; it's not that it's not as "there" but it's just not there in the same way.

Go to an airport and say Jesus. Then after that say Allah and see which gets more of a reaction. Saying Jesus is pretty commonplace and doesn't get too many reactions unless you are forcing your belief of Jesus, then yes you will get a big reaction. Don't be so arrogant and try to make it look like Jesus must be true if when you attack someone with him and your religion you get negative feedback.

When I am at work, I work. I do not care to discuss either religion or politics. When you are at a job you are there to get a job done, not babble on about philosophical stuff.

That's what Yahoo Answers is for!

Same at school. When I was in school it was a time to study the topics at hand. If I wanted to study religion, I would have taken a class in religion.

Philosophy (including religion, politics) is great and should be practiced liberally in cyberspace, organized debates, your home or at your local tavern or church.

When I am at work I am there to do the job.

I'm not extremely upset or hostile....I just don't believe in God. However I respect the fact that you do. I think when people disagree instead of constantly debating the issue they do what couples do in a good marriage because they don't always agree about things....they agree to disagree and then go on with their lives. Maybe we should all try that because I'm not going to change my mind and I respect your religious beliefs so I wouldn't begin to try and change yours.

very true,I'm glad to see someone on the right course,in my experience before i was saved i didn't want to hear about it,hear the music go to church,or even go where i thought Christians would be,i wouldn't be caught dead, now i enjoy all of what i despised before, and that's whats going on here until they are touched by the Holy Spirit, they will forever be defensive, because the devil has them and don't want to let them go and they are fighting a battle.

No offense meant. Atheists are thinking of the same line like you did now. So who's who?
