It is very starchy. It can be extremely fattening if you eat too much. Most of the nations "sugar" is actually corn syrup - high fructose corn syrup. Look at all of the regular soda ingredients... Go easy on the corn.

Anything can be fattening or bad for you in excess. If you want to talk raw calories? No, by comparison a proper serving of corn isn't fatting...

...but that depends on your daily intake of raw calories, and how much you exert exercise. See my source link for more if you're really worried about this. It's got a good guide for figuring out your daily calorie needs, and what exercises burn what amount of calories.

No food is "bad". Its the amounts of food you eat that can be fattening. As long as you eat a balanced diet from all food groups, you are fine. As a long time nurse and now a medical student, I get so frustrated when I hear the latest fad diets and how you must TOTALLY cut out a particular food (once it was fat, then carbs, sugarbusting, high GI, etc). What you need is a balanced diet of foods containing vitamins and minerals. There is only ONE food that I can think of that has no value, and that is soda. But even that will quench your thirst and provide you with energy sometimes...

Use a vegetable bean dip like hummus instead of ranch dressing or perhaps a fatty cream-based dip.
