I have heard a rumor spreading among some people that the crusaders were somehow justified in their wars in palestine. Does anyone know where this came from or what the argument is?
I would read some Islamaphobic books or something, but I'm almost immeadietly tune out because they're so bigotted.

It's sad when a lie is told so many times that the truth becomes a rumor. The truth is that the crusades were military endeavors by the kings of Christian Europe to RE-TAKE Palestine from Islamic savages. I'm not calling all Muslims savage, just the ones who butchered Christians and Jews in their conquests in the Holy Land. Islam had a violent streak in it during those days that would make today's Muslims look like Boy Scouts. With the Holy Land under Muslim rule, they had a key platform from which to launch attacks in their conquest to conquer all of Europe. That was their ultimate goal and they made no secret of it. They did succeed in conquering Spain and establishing a tyrannical government that lasted for 700 years. The Christians and Jews that survived had no rights. The rest of Europe didn't want to end up the same way. So, yes the crusades were acts of self defense against Muslim aggression - political correctness and revisionist history not withstanding

Well, there was a sort of clash of civilizations. The muslim empire spread across most of the known world and into parts of France and Spain. This caused a clash in Europe and eventually led to the crusades.

Not sure exactly how you justify a war. Some seem to have valid reasons, but justice is rarely seen.

PBS made a documentary about how Islam started and spread across the globe called "Islam: Empire of Faith" and this also covers the part of crusaders.

It is about hour and 30 minutes long and will save you a lot of time from reading so many books to find out about the basics of Islam.
Please see link in order.

You may have different ideas about the Crusaders, but you can never get the truth.

You can also have various views of atrocities committed during that time.

But let me tell you the fact- God was just not on their side at that time. All of the subsequent crusades later turned out to be a flop.
