Personally I have been smoking for a very long time, and smoke around 10-12 cigarettes a day. I would like to quit smoking, but still smoke about 1 or 2 cigarettes a week. How do you do that? I know some people who do it, but I can't seem to make it two hours without a cigarette..

Thanks everyone!

Shelia

If you are serious about reducing your smoking habit, here is a method I have heard works well.
Set a schedule for yourself. You say that you smoke 10-12 a day now. Set a schedule to go down by one cig.

Perhaps start at 11 for the day, putting 11 into a hard pack in the morning, and only smoking the ones you have allotted for the day (no cheating, by borrowing from others).

Over time, reduce your daily allotment by one for the day. If you choose twice/week, then On the following Monday, only allot yourself 10. That Wednesday, reduce your allotment to 9. Continue on until you have quit.

After you have gone down to one per day, it should be easy to not smoke unless you "want" one. Hopefully, this helps.

As an ex-smoker, smoking only 1-2 cigarettes a week is almost nothing. I quit cold turkey and at your rate you should not have any trouble quitting. You're lucky.

I can smoke one day and not smoke again for a couple months. I guess you can call me a social smoker. I can smoke for a few days then stop just like that. To me it isn't an addiction its a mind thing.

try decreasing the amount you smoke until you get down to the 1 to 2 a week and then get it to only 1
and then 0
try using the patch that makes you quit smoking... have family members help you also.

I can't offer any advise, as I never smoked. Let's see if you can smoke one cig a week, then 1 cig every 10 days and lengthen it out.
