I am a Christian. I respect others regardless of what they believe. If they don't agree with me, I don't go around like some mindless idiot calling them losers.

I'm an atheist, but I respect the right people have to worship I just don't do it since I don't believe there's nothing supernatural. But I feel many theists creep out when people say they don't believe in a supreme being. A friend told me "but you don't want to believe just in case?" Well, there are so many belief systems and I'll be a half-assed follower, plus I'd rather live my life my way than following some other person's idea of how to live it.

I believe in one thing though, believers are way more dangerous than non-believers (unless we talk about communists trying to start an atheist state, but that's a whole different story); plus there have been less communist rebellions than "holy wars", crusades", "jihads", etc).

I love Atheists. I think they are often intelligent, free thinking people that are very grounded and down to earth. I do find it surprising the similarities I find between Atheists and Christians in their "My way or the highway" thinking. Neither group (as a whole - not individuals) seem to be able to get around the idea that everyone is entitled to think whatever they want and there is no problem with that.

Peace!

I have friends that are believers...in fact since the non believer population is lower, most friends are believers. Most are fine good everyday people, like me. The only ones I have a problem with are those that others would as well. The rude, self righteous, arrogant, dominating people...but those that are able to just be part of the human family with the rest of us and accept people as they are, I really don't care what they believe if they don't care what I believe either.

There are all sorts in all categories. I don't mean to say these are the norms or what I think of all people in any category, but the ones that stand out are:

Christians who are smug and act like they've got this big thing going over everyone else.

Atheists who think Christians are completely incapable of rational or individual thought.

Christians who can't get it through their heads that the Bible is not a valid argument to people who do not believe the Bible.

Atheists who don't understand that not having proof of God and still believing is the whole point of faith.

Either who tries to support their claims with erroneous "scientific fact".

I don't see a whole lot of people who specifically identify themselves as part of other religions who stand out.

Then there are the smart asses like me who often say things just to get people stirred up. I like to see how people respond to pressure and questioning of their ideas/beliefs/arguments.

Since you're a christian you'll understand what I mean when I say "freewill". My opinion is that each person has a right to believe the way they choose to. That each person should seek 'truth' his or her way. If it is truth they seek, they will find it, no matter which path they take to get there. The only thing I don't understand is people on both sides trying to convert the other side, when God said he put his laws in our minds and hearts and there is no need to tell others to 'know' God. (deep down they know the truth, not what is written in a book, but God's truth). They are people, that is my opinion of them.

Accepting or rejecting God is, in some sense, one of the few real decisions you ever get to make in your life, and God has given us the right to make that call. I disagree with atheists, of course, but I'm not about to try to deny them a right granted by God. And, truthfully, I think they can make some reasonable arguments. If they couldn't, then there would be no room for faith.

My opinion on "believers" ... I think they're doing the best they know to understand the world around them. But, as a non-believer, I wish they would question the ancient teachings more and afford themselves a bit more control over how they treat others and approach life.

It's not about doing as you're told ... it's about doing what you believe to be right.

There isn't just one type of atheist. "Weak atheism" is simple scepticism; disbelief in the existence of God. "Strong atheism" is an explicitly held belief that God does not exist. See my source link for more detail on that.

And just as there isn't one type of atheist, each atheist probably has its own unique view towards belivers in any religion.

It has no value what a person thinks of another.

What does God Himself think and say in His own Words what a scriptural scoffer (atheist) is?

God's Word, nullifies all opinions.
