I am hanging drapes in my bedroom, which are pretty heavy. I have a sturdy enough rod, with wall mounts. What I need to know is how do I put the mounts, with the screws into the wall, so that the sheet rock doesnt crumble and the mounts and screws get loose? Help!! :) Thanks.

Two options:

1. Get a stud finder from the hardware store, find a stud on either side of the window, and screw the mounts into the stud (use longer screws to make sure you really get into the stud).

2. Use those plastic drywall plugs, which are hammered or screwed into the wall before putting the screw in - they prevent everything from coming loose from the weight.

You either have to screw them into the studs, which usually are sixteen inches apart. You can buy a stud finder at your local hardware store, or you have to use anchor bolts. Good luck...
