John 3:15-17 KJV "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. "

I freaking fear GOD's wrath. I have already experienced some of it!
Eternal consqeunces definatly changes my ... level of religiousness.
Everytime I start lacking in my faith juice, I read something from Revelations and get scared poopless that after I die, my spirit might be extremly unhappy.
And I heard that hell is your worst nightmare. And... my worst nightmare is pretty scarey.

Actually YES that is why even as a child I didn't want to find myself before God and be punished because of ignorance so starting at a young age, I sought truth, no matter what the consequences were, as long as in the end, I would know and be able to have made the right choice. (mom catholic, dad ocultist believed in reincarnation)

In believing in this statement or even this context taken from the Bible you are ultimately saying that it is not God who saves the human race but the entire salvation lies within the choice of each individual.
But even all this makes no sense. If God supposedly knows your every move in life and your every thought in life, then he knows whether or not you will spend eternity in heaven or hell.
Well that contradicts what I said at first and what I said at first definitely contradicts what the Bible says so the I have brought myself to believe that the only salvation, or "heaven", is the one that I create in my own mind. What I picture my afterlife to be like will be my afterlife. I have the power, and you do to, to create your own afterlife. Where do you want to go?

If an almighty God can only control us humans through fear of eternal torture, then to be perfectly honest, I don't know if I'd want to worship that God.

The Buddhist concept of eternity is very different and we believe that we atone for misdeeds by undergoing another reincarnation until we have reached enlightenment.

I believe that one who walks the middle path has nothing to fear... I believe in Jesus Christ, I've accepted Him into my heart, but I'm not going to try to convert people if they aren't open to Him.

Jesus loves even the ones who deny Him. And believers are no better than non-believers.

yes, absolutely! I would much rather spend an eternity with my God than completely forsaken in the pits of Hell.

In reality, there are no eternal consequences, such things only exist in fantasies called religion.
