No where does God promise us that he will make us healthy, wealthy, and wise just for the asking - I find it offensive when this is preached from the pulpit - it is a gift of God when someone is considered a good steward and is rewarded with wealth. So, no, I don't believe in the prosperity message, I believe in faith that God will provide and meet all my needs - why? because he's never let me down yet and the bills are paid!

For the prosperity message, see Joel Osteen.
It's absolutely contrary to the life that Jesus wanted for his followers, but the Bible can be interpreted in so many ways that it doesn't really matter what you preach. It can all be justified by some random verse.
As a capitalist, I have ZERO problem with prosperity being preached.

Yes, because everyone that listened to God and was obediant got PAID! Abraham got rich,Issac got rich, Jacob got rich, David got rich, Solomon got crazy paid! However, these men were obediant to God's instruction, and all but Solomon didn't get totally stupid and selfish with the abundance God gave them. Furthermore, in Deuteronomy 8 God tells the Children of Israel that when they were obediant He'd bless them. He further defines the blessing in Deuteronomy 28:1-14 (for obediance)and the consequenses of disobediance in the rest of the same chapter of Deuteronomy.
you're only hearing PART of the message. IT IS TRUE that when you sow a seed into a ministry that is obediant to the Word, you will get a harvest, but, you also have to be living right before God, He's not going to give you a return on your seed if you're just going to spend it on something dumb. You also have to believe that God is, and that He will bless you. Because without believing in Him, you're just making a donation.

God Desires Your Success
1 Samuel 15:22
God wants you to be successful. This does not mean He has an automatic plan for you to become rich or famous, although either of these may be included in His ultimate design for your life.
God's idea of success begins at the Cross where Jesus died. Success is not measured by what you do in life or what you gain financially. Your love and devotion to Jesus Christ measure your success.
In 1 Samuel 15, we read how Saul decided he would offer a sacrifice that only God's anointed priest was commissioned to offer. Since Samuel was not present, Saul felt justified in his actions and made the sacrifice himself.
This one act of disobedience cost Saul the kingdom. Here is a lesson we need to learn if we are going to be successful. God anoints certain people to do certain things. He has placed leaders in our lives for a reason. If we want to lead, we must first learn to follow.
If you fail to submit to your God-given authority, then success from God's perspective will be difficult to achieve.
A successful person has learned humility to the point that he no longer thinks about whether he has gained it or not.
We are called to do the will of God, but this only can be done at the feet of Christ.

The "name it and claim it;" health, wealth and prosperity" crowd are, for the most part, charlatans lining their pockets. There are too many verses in the Bible that dispute even the most elementary "teachings" of this group and should be disbelieved.
These teachers say that you must sow seed to get a crop. That is a true biblical picture. But the application of it in the situation we're talking about is completely false.
For example, some "faith" teachers will say that "God wants you blessed!" yet, if that were true, then all the persecuted Christians in Muslim, Hindu, or Buddhist countries under persecution must be disobedient in some way to God, because they must be "cursed."
But that would be a slap in the face of all who have gone before them. All but one of the Apostles were tortured and killed for their faith. To hear these charlatans tell it today, they must have been disobedient. For the first 300 years of the church, it was under tremendous persecution and poverty.
God even says, "Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain." (Proverbs 30:8-9)
But to hear some of these folks, that would be heresy.

No, but they sure know how to rake in the money, was Christ rich?
And that brings up another topic, Benny Hinn, hey if you had the power to heal would you charge people to get in to get healed or would you be visiting the hospitals?

I believe the Lord wants us to be prosperous, but I don't think He wants us to put it as high of a priority as many evangelical preachers seem to preach. I think aChristian's MAIN focus should remain ALWAYS to witness to others about Christ...not to better ourselves.
