With a buffet, like Hometown Buffet or Sizzler, you get what you pay for. Avoid these rat-holes and go to a Sunday brunch which is a much better version of the aforementioned buffet. Try Humphrey's on Shelter Island.

Sushi Deli...Ok, while not quite a "buffet" the prices are so darn cheap that you can eat like it is a buffet...It is way less than Todai or any of the other all you can eat sushi places and believe me I can eat sushi. I recommend the one on Washington St. in Hillcrest. You almost have to get there at 5pm when they open or risk waiting 1 1/2 hours (it is that good). I typically can gorge on sushi with another person and spend around 30 to 35 dollars with a tip.
