Christians are such an ungrateful bunch. were it not for Judas doing what his Master told him to do you Christians would be in the Lake of Fire without a paddle. few people have ever truly followed a "perfect master" so let me clue you in on how it works. when your perfect master tells you to do something you do it. no questions asked. if your perfect master tells you to walk on water you'll try to walk on water b/c if your faith is strong enough you'll succeed in the miracle. Jesus told Judas to go do what he had to do and Judas did as he was told. his Master said go ... so Judas went.
Christian might consider that "judge not lest you be judged" may apply to Judas too. you are not privy to what went on between Jesus and Judas. for all you people know Judas may have been the only disciple Jesus could entrust with such a difficult task. if you Christians can not be appreciative of the service Judas performed on your behalf at least withhold judgment until you talk to Jesus and find out how it all really played out. certainly there is more to the story than the New Testament provides.

In a way, you may say that Peter did. It is said that after Jesus' arrest, Peter denied knowing him three times before the cock crowed in the morning. You could count this as a betrayal in a loose definition. However, the only conspirator who plotted the big betrayal was Judas.

Dear Jake Long: Judas is one of the Original 12.
It was necessary for Judas to "betray" or Jesus could not have set up the Resurrection - which is the whole point of the Crucifixion. Judas is NOT honored by mankind.
I think you should come to understand how Jesus saw the situation. I would like you and others to come to understand that Jesus was like you and me - and yet his COMMAND of KNOWLEDGE put him in a higher position than us - temporarily - for it is His desire to teach to us all that He knew and, therefore, make us like Himself - on His level of thinking. A Master wants to turn out other Masters! What He learned - we can learn!
Jesus teaches two principles. (1) Beyond physical appearances we are what our Creator created us to be: Spirit-Mind. (2) We are joined as One in Reality to each other: Through the One Mind (a channel that runs through each Being -back to the Father). This jointness - this One-ness is our Truth.
It is central to understanding that actions such as BETRAYAL and the likes, is not actually possible in terms of our Reality. It is only possible on the physical plane where we are distinctly individual; separated from each other as "personalities" and appear to have a sullen uncooperative-ness towards each other. Our One-ness - at Home - does not allow for that! Let us listen:
"If they . . .[the Apostles] had really understood Me, they could not have described my reactions to Judas as they did. I could not have said, 'Betrayest thou the Son of Man with a kiss?' unless I believed in betrayal. The whole message of the crucifixion was simply that I did not. . .[who you are joined to as One cannot betray you. For you cannot separate yourself from who you are joined to]. . .. The "punishment" I was said to have called forth upon Judas was a similar mistake. Judas was my brother and a Son of God, as much a part of the Sonship as myself. Was it likely that I would condemn him when I was ready to demonstrate that condemnation is impossible?". . .[Jesus walked away resurrected, didn't He? Condemning Him was a useless waste of energy. There is no death for Him or us. God creates the Eternal - like Himself.]
MAIN POINT: Jesus looks upon only that which is real and truth. He never looks at separate, individual Beings. His focus is on nothing but His and our Reality. The body is an illusion surrounding that which is real - to Him. He would have you focus as He does. What we perceive is different from what Jesus sees.
I hope some of the above lines are profitable for your Contemplation.

Yes he is - he had a purpose,
If he had not betrayed Jesus - the Jews would have found a way to do it.
