But my mom tells me he cries whenever I'm away.

It's so cute.. When I went to the bathroom, my mom says he stayed there until I came out, trying to look under the door. Aww..

But whenever I'm near he runs away. Is this normal?

Is this some kind of playing with me?

He also sometimes goes to me so I pet him. And he also sleeps on my bed. For some reason he doesn't like his box, where I put my old blanket, but rather likes my bed.

Yes, I play with him a lot. he is 3 months old.

I bought two packs of Soft Claws and the seller sent me four toy mice. I tie one of them to the end of a string and he plays with it for hours. Sometimes I pretend the mouse flies, and when he attacks it with his paw, I let it touch the floor and my cat jumps on it. It's so cute.

Cats do & think what they want! Who knows? LOL
The first few weeks in a kitten's life are the most important ones in terms of socializing and bonding with a human, and should be treated as a very precious time in your relationship. This is the time for cuddling and holding, playing gently, and talking to your kitten. Properly handled, he will associate these happy times with you, dear human, and be a friend to you for life. Like clay in your hands, you can mold his personality, while at the same time, strengthening your own commitment to him to cherish him and care for him the rest of his life. Believe me, most of it will come instinctively.Gently pick up your kitten at least once a day and speak soothingly to him in a soft, quiet voice. Hold the kitten for 5 minutes or so before setting him down in a favorite spot
After a few days, gradually sit down while holding the kitten. Talk to him quietly and pet him gently. Don't encourage rough play (scratching, biting). If he tries it, tell him firmly, "No." and gently put him down.
When kitty is comfortable with the first two steps, stroll around the room holding him and talking to him. Don't distract him with outside elements; he should be focused on you.
Put the kitten on a well-lighted table and stroke him. You can talk baby-talk to him if you want. It's okay.
Next day, on the table, pick up a paw and press gently to extend the nails, examine the nails and toes, then gently examine the foot and leg. Get to know the normal feel of his limbs.
Back to the table again. This time, examine the kitten's ears visually. You may have to move his head about so you can see inside his ears. Feel the outside of the ears to familiarize yourself with them.
On the table again, gently palpitate (press gently) the kitten's abdomen. Stroke his back and sides, feeling for any abnormalities. Again, you're familiarizing yourself with his normal characteristics.
Open the kitten's mouth and look at the teeth. Rub your finger along the length of the teeth starting at the gum. Insert your index finger in the corner of his mouth to view the back teeth.
By now, your kitten should be totally comfortable with your handling of him, so grooming, teeth cleaning and toenail clipping should be a breeze. Give him a treat for being such a cooperative kitten.
Tips:
These steps should take about five minutes per session. Start with one session per day, and add more as needed, depending on the kitten's tolerance for handling.
As with all other forms of training, don't make it an adversarial experience. When kitty gets tired, or if he's just having a bad day, give him a hug and gently put him down. You can always try again tomorrow.
As your kitten grows older, inspect him at least once a week. You can combine the inspection with his grooming session.

Kittens in their early weeks will play with almost anything. You may be tempted to buy a bunch of toys, but remember, their attention spans are much like those of children, and they might be just as happy playing with a crumpled up ball of paper as with a motorized mouse.

One important caution at this age: don't let your kitten start to associate your hands with a play toy. Doing so can develop into bad habits of scratching and biting fingers. Hands are for holding, stroking and gentle hugs; toys are for rough play.

It took a long time for my cats to trust. Now my cat angel sleeps with me and goes up to me and everything but when he was a very little kitten,he walked in the store and found my big brother , and my brother took him home and ever since we have had this cat. He came from a bad neighborhood. We are not sure if he was dumped or what. We didn't know how old he was, and the vet had to guess. But he does knock everything off and steals everyone's clothes but i love him so much. You have to build trust with kitten's and cats . I have built a relationship with both of my cats.

Your bed is warmer. Maybe he is a little afraid of you so that is why he runs away. Make sure to pet him when he comes over to you. Maybe start playing with him. Find a piece of yarn or something and move it around and he'll attack it. It's really cute!

It sounds like your kitten is very playful. Cats are weird - I love them dearly, but they're weird. They do what they want when the want. I have a one year old male cat that will not sit on my lap and doesn't want to be held. He rubs against me, he looks at me and meows, and he sits and stares at me. When I try to hold him on my lap though, he runs off. He has to choose to sit on my lap. He always sleeps in bed with me though. My cats and dog prefer my bed over their own. I guess that's normal.

Definitely sounds like he's playing with you... I would recommend that you make the effort to spend more time petting him and holding him in your arms, especially while he's a kitty. He'll get more used to being handled by a human.

He sounds so cute...

He wants attention and care, he wants to be close to his owner and wants to play with him too. I have two cat that does the same things your kitten does. Sometimes kittens and cats want to do things without being disturb, maybe the reason you came close to him was because he was surprise or scared. and yes that is normal for all cats and kittens. one of my cats cry when i'm not around. :)

Honestly, it differs with the animal. what it sounds like to me, is that he is trying to play, but, (why does there always have to ba a downside?) i could be wrong. just go along with it for a while & see what he does! If the running away continues, then i don't know what to do.

when i first got my kitten, he would run away & was scared of me. u have to let him approach u as you said he does, then pet him & hold him close to u & let him smell u. we did this with our kitten & now he cries until we pick him up & hold him. we have had him for a week and within 2 days he had completely warmed up to us & now he follows us around & cries when we leave in the morning. he is sooo cute.

He sees you as a giant, I would run too if I saw this huge thing coming at me that was many feet taller than me and weighs anywhere from 150-200 pounds more than me!
