My fiance and are are getting married the problem is his mother and father are divorced. His father is remarried and has been for a long time. My fiance just recently started speeking with his father and his wife. How would we go about introducing them at the wedding reception because even though she is step-mother it would offend his real mother if she was intorduced as his mother but would it sound tacky if she was introduced as step mom?

What I was really looking for is when the Dj introduces the bridal party how would they introduce the step-mom?

"This is my dad, Joe, and his wife Pam", no need to go into a lengthy explanation. Congrats on your upcoming marriage.

Have the DJ say "the groom's father John Smith and his wife Jane". This way it is in no way implied that Jane is the groom's mom and you don't have to mention the word stepmom at all. Also his mom should be introduced first, have the DJ say "the groom's mother Mary Doe".

I would introduce them as "the father of the groom, Mr. Steve Jones, and his wife, Mrs. Mary Jones." Then introduce his mom as "the mother of the groom, Ms. Sue Jones"

Good luck!

I would say... Father of the groom Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith. No sense in making anyone uncomfortable. No one will think anything of it. But if I were you, I would ask your fiance's mom what she is comfortable with and then give the step mom options and see which one she prefers. Then all is happy. They are adults. It shouldn't make them feel awkward for you to ask their opinions. They'd probably appreciate your kindness.

Say it like it is... This is Robert's Dad Bob and his wife Sally. This woman didn't raise your husband, she's not his step-mother - she is his father's wife. Best Wishes!!

Legally she is his step-mother, so that could be used, or this is "Bob's" father "Jim" and his wife "Sarah". Then she is introduced and biological mom isn't hurt.
