I called my father daddy until.. well he passed away 3 years ago, but he's still daddy to me. I can't say if that makes me closer to him than those that say dad, but I was very close to my father. It's really hard to say. Daddy to me was my little girl way of calling him dad, that I just didn't want to let go of even after I grew up.

I don't know what other peoples outlook on this question is, but for me... Daddy is a way for me to be closer with my daddy, and it makes me feel closer then those who call their fathers dad. I think it makes you closer then those who call there fathers dad... hey that's just my opinion!

I promise you right now on my part, there is not a son or daughter in the world any where that loves their father any more than I do. I my self will call him daddy, dad, (in front of my daughter) grandpa. It all depends on what is going on as to what I call him. Just since this last March when I moved back home to care for him and mom, dad pick up on calling me you ole damn and so now it is a thing between us that we call each other "you ole damn" and laugh about it. He is 83 and I'm 49.

I always called my father Daddy (probably my Mom's fault). I loved him dearly but we were never really close. He was a very distant (and miserable) person. But I loved my Daddy!
