I don't think America sucks, just for the record.

because it still offers a better life than what they have back home. Unemployment is very high in many parts of Mexico, so the men come here to work.

America doesn't completely suck but we are rapidly killing our country with huge debt and a growing governmental desire to control every aspect of our lives. Privacy is rapidly becoming scarce.

Laws protect corrupt business practices. Illegal immigration is one example of this. Building a fence on the border won't stop it. Enforcing existing laws and collecting huge fines from employers who employ illegal labor will solve the problem If employers were afraid to hire them, there would be no work and they wouldn't come.

Of course doing so will come at a price most Americans haven't figured out yet. First of all, our agricultural industries will be in big trouble. Even if they paid more few Americans are willing to work the fields. They'd rather collect welfare or deal drugs.

In the southern states, the construction industry would also have huge problems. The influx of cheap, illegal labor, note people who often do excellent work, has kept wages from rising with inflation, thus what were once honorable trades that produced an income worthy of attracting good quality workers, is now paying barely enough to survive in many cases. My bf is a contractor and he has a horrible time finding good quality help. Instead what he gets are flakes, people who do poor work or those who are drunk and stoned all the time (including working hours).

If the illegal labor disappeared from the construction trades, there would be an immediate shortage of labor, wages would rise (a good thing) but that would also mean a big jump in the price of new homes and remodeling.

We complain about outsourcing yet continue to buy goods that are effectively getting cheaper and cheaper BECAUSE they are produced offshore. Clothing, food and electronics all come IN far more than what is created here.

Every time you shop at Walmart, you support a company that doesn't pay a living wage, and that buys almost all its product from companies that manufacturer off shore. Even the high end stores are bringing in clothes made in China and India.

There is no simple answer as every choice carries with it a domino effect.

But..I strongly support enforcing current immigration law, and changing the constitution so the children born of those illegally in the country do NOT get automatic citizenship, and also offering agricultural work permits.

It would seem to me that the fines that could be gathered from pursuing employers would pay for the enforcement, but remember that business pays for your politicians, so don't expect them to come down hard on their financiers any time soon.

I know what you are saying. All you hear from most illegal Mexicans is Americans are terrible. Americans are racist. Americans suck. Americans are the worst people ever. Americans start wars and on and on.

That's what I don't get, If Americans are so terrible why would you want to be in the U.S. with all those terrible Americans? We may be better off financially, but I would think it would be worth staying in Mexico, before you had to put up with all the so called racist terrible Americans that you encounter in the U.S.

I wouldn't want to go to another country when I couldn't stand anyone that lived there. Makes no sense to me.

I've been wondering this same thing, myself. They have been very vocal and open about their hatred of the USA, especially since May 1st. Yet, they still come?? And, at the same time, they are just as vocal and open about their love of and loyalty to their home countries! If they love their home countries so much and hate the USA so much - why do they still come??? I guess they hate us, but they love our money? Hmmmm.

They are at war with us. They are invading our country, taking advantage of our generosity. They steal from us, i.e., social security numbers, welfare, food stamps. They educate their kids, get free medical and ruin our economy by working for sub-minimum wage jobs. Ask any of them what they think of America or Americans. I have, the answer isn't nice!

Maybe because their country seems even worse to them and our employers love a bargain and are just tickled at the opportunity to exploit them. I mean they are the ones sewing our jeans and stuff.

America is 100 times better than Mexico, at least for the lower class/working class.
