No. And I wonder how many people do it for attention and not for God. I mean the Bible does says that speaking in tongues is possible, but I wonder if people do it so that they "look" like they are more Holy to others. When I was saved, it was pretty "uneventful" but as I began to grow in the Word and in my Faith, the "stirring" inside of me became stronger. But I never felt the need to speak in tongues or smack people upside the head ~ I just wanted to be a better person for God. And that still holds true today.

I spoke in tongues once. It was amazing. A language in which I didn't recognize a single word but was still understood by another, a total stranger at that! (Hey, I don't even believe it myself, but I do remember it happening.) I sure don't know wtf you mean by "being saved." Saved from what? Eternal damnation? With all due respect, please give me a break. How rude to imply that you believe that billions of souls could be destined for eternal damnation. Apparently this is something that appears "true" in your belief system. How can anyone subscribe to the notion that decent, caring, good people, who by their own lights just can't in their heart of hearts believe in a "being" that is all-powerful but can't heal the lame, deaf, dumb, blind, and terminally ill are doomed to Hell? Where's the "free will" in that? You get a particularly nasty and painful terminal form of cancer because "God wills it"? I know, I know, He works in mysterious ways. But that strikes me as such a cop out. I mean, I'm sure good Christians get cancer too. What could He possibly be THINKING? What a guy!!!

I tried. But it just felt so fake and meaningless to me that I stopped.
