Wedding Desserts!? Help!?
My friend is getting married in the morning and is giving a reception in the night:

She is having a cake and is deciding if she should serve anything else as a dessert along with the cake

She is thinking of setting a round table and having the cake as the center pieces (of course) and have trays of fruit like chocolate covered strawberries and raspberries. Also little bites of caramel covered apples and cookies

But the thing is since the wedding is the in morning and the reception at night so there’s going to be a wedding lunch and she is serving fruit kabobs... so is that a good idea to the chocoalte and caramel covered fruit at the reception?...or is that to much fruit in one day?
If not...what else should she do?
If yes what others things should she try severing?

The fruit kabobs at the wedding lunch will have pineapple and grapes and peaches and that stuff so is al right to serve the whole chocolate covered strawberries and raspberries and caramel covered apples and cookies for the reception since that kind of fruit will not be at the wedding lunch and it has chocolate and caramel...or to much fruit in one day?

Ok People you can stop worry about extra money and all that stuff for the wedding lunch because I asked my friend and the wedding lunch is provided by the hall that she rented for the wedding to be in so basically the wedding lunch is free lol that why they are having wedding lunch and then a reception dinner

Everything you have said in the question are very good ideas because not everyone likes to eat cake. The other thing she could do is have cheese platters with some more exotic cheeses which is always a good idea if there are any diabetics attending.

One other suggestion is having a bakery make a croquembouche. It's the traditional French wedding cake made up entirely of cream puffs drizzled in chocolate and caramel sauces but it's becoming very popular to use as a groom's cake.

The final suggestion I have is, if she's having some one cater this reception, then maybe a live food station where someone from the catering company is making crepes or creme brulee or something flambe.

In my neck of the woods, Northeast Ohio, at all our evening wedding receptions we have a cookie table. It's usually set up on the side of the hall, away from the cake. (the cake is still the dessert main event). Usually members of the family and friends will bake the cookies ahead of time and deliver them to the hall the day of the wedding (morning) or even sometimes the night before. Usual cookies on our trays are : peanut butter blossoms, chocolate chips, clothespin cookies, buckeyes, snowballs, etc. But you can have whatever cookies you like.
A recent wedding I went to also had little to-go containers so guests could take some cookies with them at the end of the night (saves the family from eating leftover cookies :) )

If the reception is at night I would just serve the cake and punch along with some mints and nuts. Depending on what time the reception is most people would have already eaten dinner and may not be able to eat much more. It may be a waste of money to have all the extra food. As well, I am not sure if you would be able to find someone to be able to make enough for a reception crowd on such short notice.

Good luck!

Can I suggest something to whomever is preparing the night time choco fruit? Put some strong liquer in the chocolate before dipping. I suggest brandy. It would taste great and be a kind of fruit chaser to the lunch. Since, I understand from your name, this is a Greek wedding use a Greek liquor like Ouzo, or Rocky. Oh, I remember them well.

It's really nice of you to care so much about your friend. She is very lucky. Have a great time.:-)

personally i would just go with just the wedding cake. i amgetting married in october and we are having a huge, fancy and extremely chocolatey cake.....
i do not want anymore desserts out. to me they will take away from the wedding cake.
i also have a friend who did away with the cake all together and had a dessert table with thingslike the creampuffs and so on. it was nice. but why do that and have a cake?
fruit is nice...
but not so much dessert.

fruit is always good and healthy. On the contrary, I think that many of the guests will really enjoy your idea since most people i've seen are health-conscious. thats just my opinion.

Or Maybe you can put more pastry-type desserts like french eclairs or cream puffs, etc. Also, be creative like the round table idea you had
