I taught ninth grade (and twelfth grade) for several years. Here is the best serious advice I can give you.
1. Arrive to all of your classes positive, willing to work, and prepared. By positive, I mean, say hello to the teacher as you enter the room. Smile. Volunteer when appropriate. By willing to work, I mean, recognize that you are their to learn. Take out your notebook and pen without being asked. Stay focused during groupwork. Don't waste time or distract others. By prepared I mean do your homework every night. Have all of your materials ready at each class period. Have an extra pencil or pen. Study for tests and quizzes. Keep a neat and complete notebook.
2. Take care of your health. Drink water, sleep, eat healthy foods. This will help you to be more alert and focused in class.
3. Develop friendships with people who are kind, sincere and academically motivated. People who smile easily, are enthusiastic about life, school, family and outside interests. Become an enthusiastic, passionate person yourself by becoming involved in clubs and activities. I recommend the drama club, yearbook, or art clubs as folks there tend to be non-competitive, creative and good natured.
4. Care! Let your actions show that you care about yourself, your friends, your possessions, school property, your classmates, and your environment. Behave in a way that demonstrates respect for yourself, your family, your peers and your school.
5. Find a mentor. Having a teacher who you can go to for advice will be important in years to come. Especially when it comes time for college recommendation letters, career planning, etc. Also, should you ever find yourself in trouble, it is good to have one teacher who is always in your corner.

Ok, we have now the EXACT identical crisis besides I do not run =) But as for the shyness, I'm nonetheless shy myself however I'm attempting to wreck out of it via slowly getting myself to speak to persons who look first-rate. The trick is to observe particular persons for a even as (however to not the factor wherein it appears bizarre and stalker-ish) and while the time is correct attempt to push your self into establishing a pleasant dialog. It could now not be handy, particularly if the individual does not quite speak again however you need to be first-rate and speak to the persons you decide on somewhat day-to-day and finally you can get used to one another and grow to be cozy adequate to grow to be peers. As for being frightened of rejection, you ought to gain knowledge of not to pay attention to poor feedback until they are serving to you do higher. If you maintain being scared you will not make it and not ever check out then you can not ever recognize. Take a risk and check out out. You not ever recognize what would occur If you do not make it you will have to train tough so you'll be able to get higher and check out out once more whilst you get the risk. Hope I helped =)
