It seems petty, but our guests have to park in our driveway and play car shuffle. Our street doesn't get clean because the street sweepers go around their parked cars. They don't have as much room to park in front of their house, but they also aren't paying our property taxes. Plus, we keep our house nice and we would like it to not look like a parking lot!

Ask them nicely not to. If they are the nice people you claim them to be, they will comply.

Ask them nicely to please park their vehicles elsewhere. If they continue and park their vehicles on your property, then call your local police department. But if they're parking in the street where it's legal for them to park, there isn't really anything you can do about it unless they're blocking your driveway. Either way though you can still call the police. If youc all the police department, no matter what problem you have, if you have a call for service, the police MUST respond. Even if they don't do anything other than ask the people to move their vehicle. (I hope this helps. I used to work as a police dispatcher, and we actually got quite a few calls about this sort of thing.)

I know this can be so frustrating; we've had to deal with this as well. If there is room elsewhere, maybe talk to them. If you want your car parked right in front of your house, this is understandable, but if you don't have a car, it's not. It's a public street, and your property taxes have nothing to do with it.

We have the same problem. The only difference is we don't have guests really so it's no big deal but it irritates me to for some reason. If we did have someone who needed to park in front of our house I see nothing wrong with just going over and asking them to move.

The freedom of one individual to punch ends where the other man's nose begins :) It's not your responsibility to solve your neighbors' problems, you have to deal with your own. Leave them a note or stop by. If that doesn't work, try talking to your other neighbors.

If all else fails, get the local authorities involved. Don't worry, it's not going to be flashing lights and handcuffs, more likely just a quiet conversation and fewer parking problems.

Park your car infront of your house where your neighbor used to park. Timing here is very important... Just be the first one to park.

You want them to be kind, yet you're not being kind.

Maybe the problem resides in you, and not outside you.

Invite em over for dinner, get to know and love them. Then when thoughts arise having to do with them, you'll feel good rather than bad.

put up a No Parking sign, and then just move it when you want to park there ;)

yup, it seems petty, living on a street with on street parking sucks, serves you right for living in such a poor neighbourhood.

Give them a cake and tell them nicely that you would prefer your driveway free.
