We have Amber Alert in Texas, but I don't know if it has anything to do with releasing info about pedophiles. What happens is, if a child (or teen) has been abducted, then radio stations, computerized highway signs, every venue available is used to get out the latest info on the abduction, so as to get all the citizens on the lookout for the abductor. If the vehicle described is seen, or if the abductor is seen, the citizen then calls the police to report this info.

The info provided is usually a description of the vehicle used in the abduction, license plate number, and city last seen in.

The Amber Alert has worked to save lives already, as two teen girls were taken at gunpoint a couple of years ago. A trucker either heard or saw the Amber Alert, recognized the truck of the kidnapper and reported back to the police, who were able to rescue the girls.

Some of the major cities do have an amber alert. Toronto and Calgary are two of them.
I am with you , I feel that there should be a national registry with public access for information about released pedophiles. It is disgusting that the pedophiles have a right to protection and the future victims don't . It is a well known and pr oven statistic that a pedophile always re offends.

Shyangeleyes made a good point, we parents should be more vocal about this. Unfortunately the way the Rights to Privacy Act is written to have a public available national registry would contravene the pedophiles constitutional right of privacy. The laws for this have to be changed!
