NEW YORK (Reuters) - Conservative Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson said on Thursday the wave of scorching temperatures across the United States had converted him into a believer in global warming.

The view put him at odds with fellow Republican President George W. Bush, who has benefited politically from Robertson's backing and who has refused to embrace the concept of human-caused global warming.

"We really need to address the burning of fossil fuels," Robertson said on his "700 Club" broadcast. "It is getting hotter, and the icecaps are melting and there is a buildup of carbon dioxide in the air."

How very interesting Someone had a belief, received new information, processed that information, and changed his belief due to the overwhelming evidence. Boy, you don't see that everyday!

That's actually pretty impressive and he stands to serve as a good role model.

Sorry to see you so pessimistic, Holly. Life will go on. Fear not.. Try to find a copy of WALKING ACROSS AMERICA. Some years ago, Peter Jenkins believed as you do, but a walk across the nation changed his view. A good book, and he is still writing today.

As far as this summer proving the earth is going to melt off, what nonsense. Look up the 1930's. The entire center of the Nation burned off from drought. Pat is a knucklehead.

The problem is people these days pay no atttention to history, so when a minor problem happens, they think it's the end of the world.

There was a melt-off like this just before 1900, and then in a few years, it went away. Look it up in old National Geographics.

Also, studies of various evidence has shown that there is a 1700 year cycle of temperature, and we have not yet reached the hot part of that 1700 year cycle.

Sometimes, when people spew this drivel, I shout at my computer, "Beam me up Scottie, there is no intelligent life down here."

He should use his awesome leg strength, to bench press the carbon dioxide back into the earth.

On a more serious note, I believe that if it takes that much physical evidence to convert someone like Robertson (many people have already died from the heat) then having Bush be a global warming believer will take melting asphalt and then some.

Actually there is no real evidence of global warming being caused by man....its only a theory at this time....with increasing amount of volcanic activity in the oceans at this time....scientist believe that this might be the cause also....especially in the Atlantic Ocean and the Antarctic....ember that one eruption can produce more gasses than the whole industrial age of mankind...so i agree that pollution doesn't help...but i ha vent seen any strong evidence yet....also the earth goes through periods of hot and cold....stormy and calm...or global cycles....the last major cycle was the Ice Age....which they think was 12000 yrs....so as the earth is warming into a new age where it will get hotter....just do your research and you'll find out more....Even in the Bible it says that man will curse the sun because its so hot....so no i don't believe in man causing global warming...

I seriously doubt that anyone who has allied himself with Pat Robertson in the past 5 years has gained any political affluence. Pat say's what he will, Bush continues to lead.

In Robertson's case, I'm willing to bet his change of heart came about because he has a lot of money invested in oceanfront property.
But as the old adage goes, "Even a broken clock is right twice a day".

It funny how it took a heat wave to convince this idiot that global warming is real when there have been pics of melting ice bergs for years.
