Depends on your skin color but worth a try - just make sure it id done right or you will actually have that yellowy blond that they make in all these blond avatars - depending on your skin tone, you can go pale beige blond(maybe paris hilton but she is more of a cross between platinum and pale beige), golden blond(kate hudson), platinum (pamela anderson), or an ash blonde - which is duller (green gray undertones) - my favorite is the pale beige blond - like the kind of hair I was born with but you wouldn't know what that looks like but I say go to a salon - if you try to do it yourself you probably will get a lot of breakage and it will turn orange if your hair is that dark.

I would recommend first geting some light blond highlights in your hair - this way you know kind of what it will look like cause you can hold those strand next to your face and see - the right tone, etc or even if you like it.

Going from long to very short is going to feel so different and it will take a while to grow back so be ready for that. I had long blond hair and cut it short but my hairdresser did this cool cut I asked her to do where it was shorter in the back and kind of angled down to the front where it was longer - not too long but say down to a little past my chin when the back was in the mid base of my neck. It didn't looked trashy or gothic - it just looked good; different and it looked long enough to me then when I looked at it in the mirror -it looked amazing if I do say so myself. :o) but once I went shorter than thatI regretted it because your long hair makes you feel more feminine so even with that I would recommend getting a haircut that is shorter but not that short right away - or better yet find a wig store and something kind of like the length you want in blond and see what you look like - then you would know - no harm

Or you could just throw caution to the wind and do it - if you have a really pretty face, you can pull it off ; short hair that is because the focal point will now be on your face and not so much on your hair. Also, shorter hair can make you look younger and with me, I felt that it made my face look fat - don't know why - I just did.

And winter will be here soon and you don't want to be cold. I just have a hard time with major haircuts - I couldn't believe the time I cut that much off. That first style looked cool but the second one, I was like come on, grow back, grow back and my hair takes forever to grow so these are some things to think about. The color you could always change in time but highlights are really nice and natural and much much easier to maintain because when they start growing out, it isn't that obvious - it is more subtle since your hair has 2 tones in it. A full color job is a lot of work to keep up on - escpecially when it is that much of a contrast with your natural color - whatever you decide - good luck!

If you need a change, try some highlights or some chunky highlights. Going from brown to blonde is a little risky. You would really need to have a professional do that. The general rule is to stay within a couple of shades of your natural color.

Gradually get to the short blond look!
Start with a hair cut and maybe some highlight then just get heavy and heavier highlights. I think if you just drastically do it then it will be to sudden! Plus you would be surprised at how much impact small changes make!

Actually, dye your hair the blonde you want it, THEN cut it to get rid of all the damaged ends. I'm sure it will turn out great :) Just go to a professional on ALL costs. I'm never using at home stuff on my hair again.

I would avoid dying your hair blonde because it will only leave it looking damaged and unhealthy. Plus, it won't look like real blonde hair, but a bleach job instead. Keep your hair color and try a new style instead.

long blonde hair looks soooooooo lovely. if you really want a change, get some highlights and some long layers and maybe get it chemically straightened if it is curly. long, highlighted (not bleached), blonde, layered, straight hair looks FABULOUS. don't get rid of all your long precious hair.

this hair looks good with brown, blue or hazel eyes, and even green. so all eyes match it.

Go to a wig shop and try on a short blond wig to see how you will look before you make a permanent change.

Make your avatar look as much like you as possible. Select the hair color most similar to your own in real life.

Go short first. Then add highlights, then gradually lighten your hair. That won't be so extreme, but will still be a change.
